Hi guys - just wondered really - how / when do you get each level?

Is it based on the number of replies sent e.t.c.?

Based on the number of posts I believe

Silver kicks in at 500, think gold is 1000, makes no difference to your access privileges, just a label under your name.

Hmm, don't know then, I notice that Ron (Pieman) is Platinum at 1629 posts but Granby is Gold at 1636, maybe it's just down to our friendly moderators and how they are feeling

More likely that when we had lots of Forum problems a while back all the post count settings got reset.

I think I got put in the Platinum group when I was moved from the Admin status maybe for services rendered

Usergroup rankings were added just to give those who posted more frequently a little acknowledgment for the accumulated posts sort of a bit of a thankyou (acknowledgment) as its the people who post that make a forum work

One year we changed everyone over to xmas elves and stuff

Bronze = 100+
Silver = 500+
Gold = 1500+
Platinum = 2500+

They don't do anything other than change the label under your name. Although as Dave says, there are certain people who have a unique status set by Admin where its been appropriate/funny/mickey taking etc
