Wax...
OK - time to open up the can of worms!
I know its all down to personal preference, and ofcourse budgets - but just wondered what wax people are using on their scoobs? Im coming to the end of my Chemical Guys "Pete's 53" and although impressed with its ease of use and beading, can't say it really gave any depth to the colour. Am tempted to try Chemical Guys "Lava" or maybe Dodo Juice "Blue Velvet". On my old cars I went with Meguairs Liquid gold, and its OK, but find it makes the blue scoob go rather dark and dull... (IMO) So - at risk of getting - what do people use? Cheers Ryan

Poorboys Natty Paste wax, I know it smells of coconut and goes on easy, thats about as much as I can tell you and it's the only one I've ever bought or used so got nothing to compare it with. Only bought it because I stumbled across the Poorboys stand at Goodwood last year and it was on offer. Also use their black hole glaze smells of bubblegum, is designed for dark cars and is a piece of piss to use.

Combination of Werkstat Acryilic Jett and Swissvax Shield... Gives a really long lasting protection and really brings out the flakes in metallics.

Natty blue as stig said or for darker colours black fire products are excellent and really easy to use. They don't go powdery when dry and leave a very deep shine.

That's using Blackfire gloss enhancing polish (£18 from polished bliss) with Blackfire All paint protection (£32 from polished bliss) over the top. May seem a bit expensive but they last ages and offer very good levels of protection against bird crap and water marks. You will also get far better results by clay barring the car first.

Appreciate the info - only reason I was looking at chemical guys lava was because its meant for bright coloured cars like the rally blue etc but at the costs I've mentioned - I might give those a go

I have been using dodo juice blue velvet pro edition, its really nice stuff, a hardwax that lasts for ages and its the correct colour too! gives a super wet look when finished, polish the car first with some non abrasive poorboys cleaner polish/wax.

Eg here is an old thread with some phone snaps using the dodojuice stuff.. http://southeastscoobies.co.uk/vbull...ad.php?t=18942 and I think further down I have some SLR pics using nattys paste that was mentioned above, If I'm honest the best thing you can do is get a few sample size wax's from somewhere like Cleanyourcar.com and try a few out, the cost soon ramps up with expensive waxes, but a sample size one cost £5 or so and is easily enough for 2x full car applications

I just buy what I like the look/sound of from reviews on www.cleanyourcar.co.uk
If it works for me I buy it again, if it doesn't I pick something else next time. I've normally go a few variations on the go, as can be seen in the other thread : http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...ad.php?t=19950 A good Clay and Cleanse first, if it's not had one or been a while since the last, is a defo 1st step. My Audi is only 2.5 years old but the difference in paint finish/feel now after I have worked on it (for a touch longer then the Audi Main Dealer did) is amazing. I only used the DA on the bonnet. The rest was Clay, Cleanse, White Diamond and HD07 and a touch of elbow grease. I'm not convinced about all the talk of 'beeding'. The water on my various vehicles over the years doesn't get a chance to beed, it just flows off onto the floor. |

That said, there was still beading... I've never yet achieved a finish where no water gets caught up! |

don't leave out a good fine polish with the DA!
I really like the Megs Ultimate carnauba wax as well, you can wax the hole car in one hit with the DA with that stuff, did the BM with it took like 5mins to wax the hole car! and still great results.. took a bit longer to buff it all off, its still easy off though.
