Cheers

How tuned are you?

I think a good quality 10/50 is a great balance. I run Miller's CFS 10/50 in my bug and the nanodrive in my type r.

10/40 if standard , 10/50 if tuned and fast road/track, 10/60 if dedicated track only and if your temps are getting up there often. I think the main idea with a 10/50 or 60 is just better bearing protection etc. Just be sure you let it warm up properly etc.

I run the Fuchs TITAN SUPERSYN 5W-40 but I think a lot of people use the Millers CFS, my car is standard and seems fine, you could discuss this all day long and different people have different views, up to you at the end of the day, think Subaru actually state a semi synthetic as standard requirement for mine.

What Drake said, If your standard a 10/40 is fine, if your slightly modded spanking it on the road then 10/50 and if your tracking it or it gets quite hot and you beat it then 10/60
10/60s are not as thick and gloopy as they used to be. I run millers 10/60 Nanotech in mine - but it does get hot (118/120 degrees!) and see a few circuits here and there

What ever you put in should be fully synthetic, and there is no point in cheaping on oil, especially when it costs less than a tank of fuel.

Millers CFS 10W-60 for me, as it must get rather toasty doing track stuff without an oil cooler....

Millers and Motul are far superior to Silk/Fuchs offering and not massively if any more expensive (especially if you buy it from your friendly forum sponsor )

std new-age casr can use 5w40 without issue but would always use 10w40 min in a classic
