Question What should I buy??

Hi,

I need some advice. I have a 56 plate STI 2.5 without the PPP. I want to modify it a bit for some more BHP and to sound better. Thinking of getting a new back box, cold air induction kit and maybe a HKS dump valve.

Been looking at Blitz and DC back boxes and various induction kits and wondered if anyone had any advice on whats best to buy???

Thanks for your help!

Leave standard airbox as v good.
Dv if you like the noise, no performance gain from it.
Decat or sportscat down pipe and cat back exhaust and a remap should see 350 to 365bhp and upto 400lb torque.

I have an ecutek map kicking about here.

It was on my 2.5 before I went to Simtek so should be fairly good for you. Had it running at 380bhp before the Simtek.

I have exactly the same as you matey, a 2006 2.5 STI that was standard. All I did with mine was changed the exhaust from the cat back to a Vortex afterburner and got Simon (JollyGreenMonster) to remap it. The difference was unbelievable, figures aside, it is a completely different car to drive. It is alot smoother, power is avaiable throughout the range and it pulls like a train. It is producing around 340/350 bhp and 360ish lbs/ft and all this was without a decat or sports cat, which would obviously take it a bit further in terms of power. This will be my next job!. Simon mapped it a year ago and it hasnt missed a beat. You really wont regret it. .

Also its worth mentioning that to release the burble from the 2.5, you will need to change the resonated section of the exhaust (the small pipe joined to the back box that looks like its swallowed a hot water bottle!), as I tried the back box first, and while it made a bit of a difference it was the resonated section that was restricting the noise. I paid £99 for this section, so not too dear to do.
