Default clutch ??

Have been told recently that my clutch master cylinder needs to be replace, but how do i know for sure.

The car does do a couple of strange things it crunches when you change in to second quickly and occasionally in to 4th. also when you boot the car hard through the gears the clutch pedal will drop to approx 1/2 way everything still seems to work as it should still, but with the pedal staying 1/2 way down you have to put your foot underneath it to return it to normal any ideas? have tried bleeding the clutch it made no difference. cheers
