Just wondered what u all wear, what type and where u got it from as I want to suggest some ready for Xmas in the hope I might get car sorted to attend this next year

You only get one head, look after it. Open face is probably better for a hard top car but I just used my full face Shoei I use on a bike.

Have a look at somewhere like Demon Tweeks or Grand Prix Racewear for an idea of what you want and then shop around for a good price.

I use a my arai or shoei bike helmets with the visors taken off.

A full face is good in the fact that you get better protection, but also can use for open top car tracking or go karting.

Bike helmets are and can be used on bikes, car helmets can't be used on bikes.

I am thinking of getting a open face soon though for track days as if hanging around in the pits it nicer to wear.

I've got a full face Caberg bike helmet, always wear it on the Ring. I know most people don't but i prefer to wear one.

Rather than buying online completely blind, just go to a motorcycle clothing/helmet shop and try some on. Sizes differ from range to range and some are shaped differently in terms of where they put pressure on your head/cheeks to fit snugly, and I found some quite uncomfortable. Find a comfy one and buy it, or note down the brand/size and then get it online

Glad to know motorbike helmets are permitted - as I have 3 motorbike shops local to me, so I can go try on some helmets, and see what fits best e.t.c.

If you're not bothered about brand and don't want a well known one keep an eye on Lidl and Aldi, they have specials on a couple of times a year for Motorbike clothing including crash helmets for very good prices. Being a German owned shop all of their stuff is TUV approved so it will do the job perfectly and won't be cheap and nasty.

I would go for the Lidl / Aldi option and get one of their open face/peaked bash hats.

The foam on my old bike helmet has had it's day so it was skipped a few weeks back.
I will be getting an open face one either from Lidl / Aldi or similar (from ebay), which are about £45.

DibDob got one, so I will ping him a txt for the make/brand.

I wear a closed face Shoei one, came in handy on Monday when I was taken round track in a Radical, would not have been allowed out in an openface lid, also means you can take it Karting and not have to borrow a stinky loan lid.. + doubles up for bikes if that's your thing.

As far as safety in a road car goes.. Its abit 10 of 1 and half a dozen of another, in a side impact you would want to be wearing it.. but front or rear and it will amplify whip lash effects due to extra weight on your head, really we should all have collars and HANS devices!

V2 do a decent range for reasonable money. They are MSA compliant as well should that be something you need for the future.
