Interested to see how the economy drops off with the 4 wheel drive compared with my fwd 1.9tdi Passat. I'm getting over 50mpg on my daily commute but considering the route I take it would me nice to have 4wd for the winter. I'm guessing it's 150bhp PD engine.

Same as mine then, does it have a 6 or 5 spd? Mine's the 6spd which meant it was mapped for a bit more torque than those equipped with the 5 as it had a slightly bigger clutch. Keep us updated with how you get on with it.

With regular oil changes the engine goes on for ever, mines on 198k now and all those taxi drivers can't be wrong.

Tis an a4 Quattro sport with s4 alloys? 1.9tdi much better than latter 2.0tdi which seem to have huge potential to go wrong.

Nice motor.

Sister used to have an s4, hardly got used because of mpg.

Nice.. I can remap/drop a map in that takes them to 160bhp and lots of torque...

The Quattro's really hold there value, and as said the 1.9tdi is a very strong lump. Needs a turbo and clutch every 100K or so, but otherwise bullet proof engine and box. And check the driveshaft bolts are tight as they have a tendancy of unwinding themselves and drive shaft popping out.

Can get about 630 out of the Passat which is about £80 of diesel, 4wd obviously takes its toll on the economy.
