The Wagon
Just picked this up yesterday. It's only covered 77k and seems in pretty good nick. Only bad point is that it's got locking wheel nuts but no key, bugger!
It's standard apart from it possibly has a short shift but having only driven wagon_si s modified wagon, I have nothing to compare it to. Was able to give it a clean today but it needs a good polish to get the swirl marks out. Couple of questions - what's the little bit of trim on the front wing all about? The automatic lock on startup is rediculous. Anything I can do about that? Is that exhaust standard looking? Last edited by Scruff; 28-02-2014 at 04:44 PM. |

Auto lock on startup? Locks the doors? Think that can be set using the alarm keypad under the dash to not be active, had some PDF somewhere that explained it, will try to dig out.
Bit of trim on front wing most people take off and put carbon over top of hole that is left or paint it same colour as car, Subaru lost the plot with the bugeye. |

Yep, the moment you start the engine, it locks the doors then you can't unlock them manually until you switch the engine off. Massive safety issue right there!
Mines got a purpley colour carbon bit. Looks nice but just didn't get the point. The plan is to not spend money on it but I might not be able to help myself! |

You can't own a Scoob and not spend money, I tried and look what happened, especially with this forum lol. It was supposed to be my daily driver.

Yeah but you've got about 8 cars. Your passat looks to be a perfect daily driver. I'll end up spending cash I know. I said the same about my last two imprezas.

Nicely done sir!
Looks nice. My wife has a black blob wagon, so I am a touch biased! That backbox doesn't look standard as, from memory, the standard exhaust on the Bug WRX was a twin pea-shooter. |

Riiidaa, the flyeyeskit stuff is rediculouly easy to use. It took me about half an hour to do the lights on my mr2 and they're not as straight forward as they look. I'll dig it out and have a go then report back.
Thanks Stig, Mortster. It's actually got a bluey/purpley colour to it in different light. It's Mica black apparently. Maybe that'll be a bit more obvious when I've given it a polish. I've got a clay kit that's been in my shed for about 3 years... maybe I'll try that. |

The colour code is O8V, and is actually blue, most people call it blue black. Looks amazing in the sun, if we ever see it.

Today I got these flipping things off with a big socket, a bigger hammer and an even bigger breaker bar. There was 4 but one seems to have gone walkies. Thanks to CJ for the new nuts!
And went to fit this but found my centre pipe is pretty rotten so will hopefully be picking up another soon. |

Haha! Intentions are just to go for looks and handling. I'm not intent on mucking about with the engine.... apart from an sti top mount..... and maybe some dress up bits.... and a dump valve until i get tired of the tish noise... but thats all!

I found my stuff earlier today actually so i'll give it a go next weekend. Some of it has come away from the plasticy backing that its supplied on so i don't know if it'll go sticky again. Might go with a hairdryer. Watch this space.
Si - I know mate. i'm still saying no engine stuff though Its uneconomical enough as it is for a daily driver. Loving the burble from the japspeed. Very pleased with it. |

my understanding is you need the heat to release the glue anyway, if you don't have enough i'm sure i've bought plenty to get you out of trouble, perhaps you can do mine in an exchange of help

Not sure if you can get lights like this but didn't have enough flyeyeskit stuff to cover the whole of both tail lights so ended up with this which I really like. I think all black might have been too much on a blacky/bluey car. Riidaa, I'd be happy to give yours a go mate. Yes it's sticky anyway but a bit of heat sort of renews it, it also gives it a bit of stretch too. It's very easy to split the stuff when cold.

Decide to modify/hack my grill:
Think the bits in the bottom corners need to stay as they have the clips behind them. And thats as far as i've got tonight. Will haev to not drive too closr to the car in front on my way home. Will get some mesh of some sort to go behind tomorrow then give it all a spray Last edited by Scruff; 06-03-2014 at 04:03 AM. Reason: OOO! And a new badge!!! |

HKF - true dat! I can't help myself. I'm enjoying the DIY cheap jobs for now. Painted calipers soon. Gonna have some bushes to replace I think so need to put a bit of cash to one side.
Nearly there! Basic galvanised mesh. Riiidaa, I know what you mean, I don't want it to be in your face so once I've rubbed the outer bit down, I'll stick the mesh in and spray the lot black, then I've got a new badge to attach |

Mortster was kind enough to donate an STI splitter to see if I could cut it about to fit my wagon. Turns out the saloon and wagon bumper really aren't that different. Just needed a bit of filler, bit of strengthening, some colour and new holes drilled et voila:
Granted it's probably not meant to stick out so much at the sides but it I think it follows the lines of the side skirts really well. Very pleased Last edited by Scruff; 18-03-2014 at 02:51 PM. |

Decided I needed a boost gauge and found a pro sport evo on ebay for £25!! Not bad considering it should have been £65 new. Thought it should go somewhere a bit different so armed with a hacksaw blade and some side cutters:
Didn't quite fit Decided to offset it a bit to angle it round toward my eye view then cut out the ratchety bit: Cut a hole at the back and drilled a hole further back in the ducting to feed the wire down: It's in Not wired up yet though. |
