EML reading
Can anyone reasonably local help? Coming home last nite, sitting at 45ish in forth, gently eased onto accelerator to overtake, spooled up, into 5th up to 60, EML started flashing, instantly backed off.
After 10 seconds or so, it stopped flashing, I switched everything off to see if could hear any nasty knocks etc, nothing. When eased onto accel again, no issues, but could hear turbo spinning up, which is unusual as my car is stock and can't hear it normally. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate. |

You need to plug in a reader to see if its showing any faults, then go from there.
If its gone off again, I suspect it wont show any though. You could do some basic checks on all the vacuum pipes, make sure there isn't any split ones.

Thanks, I think it may defo be linked to the as a hose issue. Where's best place to get silicone hose kits? I'll just replace the lot, the poor girl has like 87k on her now, so all hoses will be tired now.

You can get kits on ebay, but make sure you replace like for like, ie keep same internal diameter. And don't change the one with the restrictor pill in.
A reader is a good purchase too, £20 to £25 on ebay/amazon.

Sorry to be a pain, but thanks for the advice. Any recommendations upon brand/spec etc of reader? There's a million and one differing types on Amazon.....

i use a vagcom 409 cable from ebay for about £15 i think and then download romraider which i think comes with a ecu code reader if i remember correctly,
i am sure i used to use that method, now i use my incar psi3 data monitor, but they are hard to find now and usually quite pricey. |

yea defo on the plug up i know of a few people that have had mass air flow sensor problems that sensor controls a lot of things to do with fueling and boosting, if the ecm reads the wrong data from a sensor like this it will give you lots of intermittent issues, but a plug up is a must as sensors like this are not cheep
