Default Circle to Square Boot Lock

Hello Guys,

I've recently bought a boot and spoiler of a newer square lock STI. When I bought the car it had a replica one on that leaks.

Cut a long story short I'm loathed to weld a plate over and just use the lever inside the car, without having to either change the lock set, or have just a different key for the boot, does anyone know if the lock barrel can be removed and placed in the housing of the square lock?

Hope this is okay to post here.

No idea on the lock but I had my boot plated and the lock removed on my old bugeye, it’s not a cheap job and not many bodyshops were willing to take it on for fear of warping the panel.

Mine doesn’t even have the lever inside

If you take the lock out what remains on the new boot lid ?

If there is no lock It's completely smooth, again not my desired look but if that's what I have to do.

I'll have my cousin do the welding (he does it for a living) so that's not too much of a problem.

My boot lid didn't come with a square one for me to even investigate. Must be something online for the contraction of the square lock, i assume it must just be a fascia over a circle barrel lock.

I’ve changed boot lids plenty of times and locks, just can’t remember having any problems doing so
