Default SES Breakfast Meet - The White Hart, Netherfield - Sunday 17th August @ 09.00

I have been trying to sort a meeting for the last week, it was going to be at The Anchor Inn Barcombe Mills but after alot of emails and trying to call the pub, without any response.

So because people are busy this time of year, to have a breakfast meet kind of makes sense (well to me) therefore the meeting doesnt take up the whole day.

The 17th also coincides with the Eastbourne Air Show so if you wish you could have a good breakfast in the morning and watch the planes in the afternoon.

The meeting will at The White Hart Netherfield which is nice and local to Eastbourne and also not a bad little drive

http://www.whitehartnetherfield.com/index.php

The breakfasts are very good and certainly set you up for the day,
however you do not have to eat you are more than welcome to turn up for just a chat. We will be meeting from 09.00am

The cost of a full English (including mushrooms) and unlimited tea or coffee is £7.00
If you dont want a full breakfast and would like something else please indicate what you would like, bacon/ sausage/ egg sarnie, egg on toast, anything you wish to eat can be catered for..

Please indicate what you would like to eat below.

1: BIG"E" Full English

Shame about the Anchor at Barcombe, might have to give it a recce in a few months to see if the new owners have got to grips with the place and upped their game, otherwise we'll be on the hunt for a new Xmas meal venue!

Anyway, back on topic!

It turns out the Anchor Inn has changed hands and gone down hill quite rapidly.

update.............

Some confusion on my part , It turns out it was the Anchor at Ringmer that has been taken over recently, NOT the Anchor at Barcombe Mill as Ian has now spoken to Stephanie and all is normal, which is good news. Its too late now to change this meet as Ian has only just had a reply, but we will hold a future meet at The Anchor inn, barcombe mill at some point.

End of update, see you all at Breakfast!

I'm hoping to go to Airbourne, so this might work for me.

Are kids welcome at the pub? If I go I will have the Stiglet with me. He's two and a half.

Thanks chaps. I should warn you though, the only SES event I've been to so far would have been better attended in an ark!

Hopefully that was coincidence, not my doing.

Would like to see some of Airbourne as well but expect it might be a bit of a long day for the little'un. Guess getting in and out of Eastbourne and parking will be a bit busy?

lol

The pub is nice and child friendly, as we're the only customers in there on a Sunday morning at 9am we pretty much take over the place Last time the owner came over for a chat and gave my 2 month old girl some cuddles whilst the wife ate her breakfast!

Will Ellie not sleep in the car, or perhaps your driving keeps her awake ??

It's better to hit Eastbourne from the east during Airbourne.
Park in the crumbles carpark on the left side marina end not asda/retail.
Parking is free. Just walk round the marina to Eastbourne seafront. Then you can walk as little or as far as you like. The planes with a big display area I.e jets do fly out that far.

Or park at princess park by sovereign swimming pool for about a fiver and either walk or get the shuttle.

Avoid A22 and beachy head if possible on route home.

Anyone fancy meeting up at the shell station on the A22 like last time? Could then convoy over.

I'm going to have to drop out as I've managed to get some front row tickets to airborne and want to get Into eastbourne earlier than planned. Sorry Ian .

For those thinking of airborne tomorrow if today is anything to go by the traffic is horrendous. I couldnt be bothered to join the queue through polegate in the car so cycled to the shops!! Yep it was that bad. And Sunday's flying times are even earlier than today.

I find it is better from this side of Eastbourne because there are more routes in. via Normans Bay has been known.

The route from the White Hart to Eastbounre has numerous possibilities.
