Default Track Days and Ting

Been thinking about the format of track days and motor things and what I would like to get out of them. I have done a few track days now - maybe 10 something like that and then a few rounds of the Javelin Sprint Series. What I would like is a hybrid of the two.I find that a whole track day of the same track is a bit boring by the end of the day.Rockingham is the exception where they change the track layout after lunch which is a lot of fun.I enjoyed the competitive nature of the Sprint racing but then you don’t get much actual seat time - maybe 8-10 laps in 1 day.

So, what would my ideal track / driving experience be. I think it would be a 50 / 50 split. Morning of learning the circuit, getting some instruction if avail, getting the car set-up correct or running right. And then after lunch running a mini sprint series / or maybe time attack style.I really cant be bothered to go full MSA motorsport and its more just for the fun of it with like minded people. I’d probably not have categories etc and just do it for the crack.

No idea how much it would be to rent a circuit - probably a lot but you may be able to get one of the smaller less well known venues quite cheap.

All I can say is I believe that Lydden Hill was around £8000 a day to rent and that didn't include marshals...

So not a profit making venture then

30 cars @ 300 so that would leave 1k for marshals etc or a lot more expensive track day for less cars. I'm not sure I would pay more than 300 for a track day, unless it were Spa or somin like that.

Other venues have to be cheaper - when I did Javelin it was 139 for the day and they ran about 50 cars, but then the must block book or a few days so maybe at discount.

More research needed.

The ball ache would be getting the commitment for attendance, I'm sure.

Yes I was thinking about that - third party liability insurance or similar.

More research needed.

Indeed you were correct mate - and Lydden is fairly small track and and grounds compared to the likes of Brands e.t.c.

No marshalls, no ambulance or first aid cover, or anything besides the track from 9:30am until 5pm were included in that price...
