Excellent day out, my first rally event and it won't be my last. That Cosworth Peugeot was an absolute screaming flying machine, god knows what that thing was reving to but it sounded like a bike engine.

Great shots there. Surprised the camera was able to process the one of the guy in the hat. Now I thought I recognised him, but his camera was too low to the ground for the guy I'm thinking of.

It sounded absolutely insane - it gets so much attention and it just seems to have so much power. Watched it full throttle out of a hairpin on one of the stages yesterday and it was still snaking around for traction at what must have been 70-80mph easily

And believe it or not, that was car zero - last car though as a inspection 'safety car' before the stage goes live for the competitors.

He was giving it the beans all the way round though

Said it on several forums now, but top pictures! I've just started using a similar setup, so its nice to see whats possible with the camera - once I've got a bit better with it that is!

As I said, it was well worth signing up to take a look as its good to see whats achieveable with that sort of Canon DSLR (I'm using an EOS500D with a 55-250mm lens, so you've got a bit more range then me!). One of the other Subaru chaps I drove down with was using a 450D and I'm sure he got some cracking shots as well.

Theres a bit more walking involved then circuit racing, but you can get waaaaaaay closer then you can at other motorsport events! The next rally down South is the Tempest - but thats not until November

So its either a trip up North, or some rallycross at Lydden until November to get a rally fix!

I'm thinking about a trip to one of the mid-Wales rallies in the summer months (maybe a tarmac event up on the Eypnt ranges) but will have to see what state funds are in after the Ring trip.

Oh, and there might be an SES trip to Lydden announced shortly

I really fancy checking out a proper tarmac event and Eypnt seems to be the one to do. Pity its so far away!

Theres actually rallycross (Winter Series) there this weekend, but the entry list doesn't look that great (only 4 Supercars) so I may save the petrol money! The British Championship is there next month though, so I assume thats what the road trip is for?

Sorry for the double postage - and a little bit belated - but some more snaps for the thread; not quite at Steve_PPP's standard, but I'm getting there!

Pity the bush got in the way of the last picture!
