Default Hatch sti

Well after looking for a change of make of car to try m3/evo/r32 etc and not really seeing anything i fancy, started looking at scooby hatch sti (yes know about choccy pistons/headgaskets etc),just wondering if there is any one on here with one i can come and have a quick look at.

nearest one i can find to look at is down in havant which i will go and have a look at if not.

Thanks very much

Dave

yes was tempted at the time steve but for the money and then thinking if it went pop and the price of rebuild on top would make it expensive for me but it did look spot on lovely example and would have been perfect

Nice cars, but remember Nige, saying the Hatch interior was very plastic and felt like everything would fall off and wear badly given time. But then he did brand it Fugly the day he got it, so probably best to make your own judgment.

Gregs one is the first 330s and hasn't. Think it was mapped quite early so may make a difference

It was the first 330S made- put together by Prodrive. Never been rebuilt and not a single issue in 4 years of ownership.

It will be for sale when I get back from Germany at the end of the month. Couldn't decide whether to sell the Delta or the hatch (didn't actually want to sell either tbh) but now finally decided on the hatch. Just had the service done so that it's ready to go.

To be fair though the person that I bought it from didn't think it was standard internals as it was the first and used as a promotional car/ press car. The power was up a bit but the torque was quite a bit higher than it should have been when it went on the rollers. Only speculative as it's never been open - but James could be right.

I know 4 people with them and they have all been rebuilt, I don't think the 330 had the same problems the Normal UK STi had

The knock control on the early STI is shockingly poor. Hence why they probably pop.

Had mine remapped very early on in it's life as I read about the ring land failure. I haven't had one problem with it. Having said that most of my mileage is too and from work so it's had an easy life with no track days.

Every performance car seems to have it's problems. You can buy and £10-£15k motor but you are still going to pay £50k car running costs

I imagine it depends a lot on how you drive them. If you drive it like you stole it everywhere it will cost you! I am now old and do most of my mileage to and from work in traffic so the car gets an easy life. Just changed the front pads after 30000 miles. When I was younger they wouldn't have lasted 6000 miles! The hatch is a quick practical car with long service intervals and at my age cheap to insure. I haven't had any issues at all with mine (touch wood)
