Default Worzel & Pieman's Day out at RCM

Ron and Myself had a day out at RCM yesterday.

We met at Wych Cross yesterday morning at 5.30am for the drive to Hinckley arriving at 8.20am.

From the moment we got there, we were looked after so well. The whole team there are such friendly and helpful people. As for Olly Clark, what a top man he is, such a friendly bloke.

We went through what we wanted doing with Olly then he went over the cars. On mine, he picked up a few extra things that needed attention, considering I was just there for a geo set up, he went over and above my expectations and I took him up on getting the other bits done at the same time.

I mentioned that I had developed a rattle to the rear, so Olly took the car out to try and find the problem. That in itself was quite surreal, sitting in your car with Olly Clark driving it. He found the problem quite quickly, which has led to me making the decision that we are going to change the whole set up for new coilovers and do the full geo set up in about a months time.

They started on Rons car at about 9.00am and we retired to the bog and then the local bacon bap van! Even the RCM bogs get the RCM treatment...

Although some people don't actually use the RCM bog roll when they go there

I won't go into what was done to Rons car, as that's his story, not mine. Suffice to say it was all done superbly

My car had it's new bits started at about 5.00pm and also had a tidy up on the geo. The pic below is from the showroom looking out into the workshop, the SLaG is on the ramp next to a mint Evo VI, lurking in the background is the Gobstopper.

After standing and chewing the fat, talking about the gobstopper, the "red snotter" and the new RCM car etc, we finally left at 8.30pm for a long, wet & windy journey home. Both extremely happy chaps.

I honestly can't tell you just how good an experience that is from start to finish, the guys up there are genuinely interested in your car and what you are doing with it. You can tell that they all absolutely love their jobs too. Olly even mentioned this, that he enjoys going into work everyday and never really sees it as what we would call "work". He just loves what he does there. The passion they all displayed for their jobs was brilliant.

Roll on the next trip up there

Firstly must say a huge thank you to Clive for suggesting we go to RCM, for talking with Olly on our behalf beforehand and for providing us with one of the best stories ever to be told even better that it was told to us by Olly himself

What can be said of RCM? Well, we were expecting great things from them and they surpassed those expectations by miles and the cost? Well, it was half what the pair of us were expecting and worth EVERY penny

You get one of the worst feelings in the world when Olly calls you out to the workshop and takes you over to your car where at the work station next to it stands Matt Clark holding what appears to be part of your fuel system There's a problem here! call the paramedics I've got a major problem Matt explains that theres a single 'O' ring within the fuel filter that has perished slightly! Panic over me thinks, the worst thing on the car is an 'O' ring that will probably cost a maximum of a £1 to replace Not to Matt Clark the chap is an engineering genius, he explains that the supposedly high quality fuel filter has a major design flaw and goes on to decide the best way to resolve the situation for me Obviously this was a little more than the £1 'O' ring but it amounted to about £25 the thing is, just replacing the 'O' Ring could have cost me the engine or at worst the whole car £25 well spent me thinks

The attention to detail is second to none and the level of service provided by everyone there is the best it can be is it worth the drive? absolutely and mine will be looked after by RCM from now on

The way Olly went over Steve's car, you'd have thought Steve had asked for a full inspection and not just geo and as Steve touched on, they don't see it as work We left RCM at 8:30pm they close at 6:00pm

Anyone thinking on going but who is put off by the journey, or other, don't be

We also found time to give Clive's car a bit of a polish

Thanks for sharing the experience, sounds like a great day!

You sometimes don't expect such well known people/companies to be so friendly and down to earth..... it's their enthusiasm, friendliness and the time people take to deal with you that makes people stand out from a crowd and become so well liked and respected....

very impressed!

very good write up too!

Agreed Mate

He also had a BMW in when we were there.

It would be worth the effort to get up there IMHO Nige, when Matt Clark is working on your car, you know it's going to be spot on

Quote taken from the link above:
Quote:
They are dear as fcuk but I would say they are the best in the buisness at what they do, everything they do/sell/have or put their name too is quality
Why do people think this? The labour costs for my recent work there was £49.95/hr, compared to what main dealer costs for labour!!! its nearly half Quoted £89.95/hr at a reputable dealer

Cheaper for geo/alignment than a local motorsport outfit and a much better customer focussed experience.............

only downside, to me anyway....... 7hour round trip and a tank of vPower Service more than makes up for it though and I will be making the journey on a regular basis

Yep

We filled up at Shell near the Dukes Head (Crawley) on the way up there and filled up there again on the way back with 1/4 of a tank left.

We took it nice and easy both ways, 80 tops!

That is a proper bling bog roll holder. Did it dispense toilet roll faster than any other toilet roll holder you've used before?

Good write up and sounds like you had a cracking day up there.
