Default Somebody help please

Hey all,

I am attempting to change the pads and discs on MY2010 WRX STI, come up against a brick wall being a novice. Can somebody please advise on the following - do all the little nuts in the picture need to be undone? can even get to some due to the rotation of the disc, or is it just the central large nut that needs taking off??






The discs I have to replace are just standard OEM



any help appriciated

Should come off Try tapping with a hide mallet.

they must be two piece disks ? - ive never seen those before but im guessing they just need a few hefty thumps from behind to come off - shouldn't need to undo centre nut or the little ones - caveat ,, just a guess

Centre nut stays on. If anything there will be small screws that go where the countersink holes are but there's non on yours

Look at the new disks they fit over the flange near the centre nut. The nut holds the hub together

The middle nut has a clip with splayed ends on it which will need to be removed before removing the big nut and hopefully the disc should come off so try that first .

Tap the disc with a rubber mallet and it will just come off. The centre nut stays as it is.

Maybe take it to someone who knows what they are doing.after all brakes are important.

All done 2.5 hours first side, 23 minutes second. Thanks to all the posters turned out the disc just needed a bit of persuasion.

As of tomorrow I will have a full set of brake pads 3/4 left, 2 OEM rear discs and the front drilled discs and pads also 3/4 left. No lips on the discs.

See front discs below - Performance friction

you might notice a difference from pf discs to oe. PF are ace discs

Yeah I can feel a bit of difference, the Front PF discs and pads also the rear discs and pads are up for grabs if anyone is interested - front 326mm and rear 316mm

The way I read it is the change is from Performance Friction to OEM. So the old ones aren't OEM and therefore your Spidey sense is correct.

That's correct guys, ones I took off are performance friction 👍 new ones I put on are OE.

The pads and discs I took off are for sale if anyone is interested ?

Not had the car long and always get new tyres and brakes with a new car, I know it's an expense but it's just a routine I got into. Only use the car for fast road and I have always found OE spot on 👍

As CJ said, keep those bells. You could have just swapped the rota's over and kept them same set up.

for future reference, on some cars/discs, those 2 smaller holes in between the stud holes are sometimes threaded. If they are, you can put a bolt in, which as you tighten, will push the disc away from the hub.
Rubber mallet method works just as well though
