Throttle return springs for a sprint event
I'm doing the VSCC Pomeroy Trophy at Silverstone in a few weeks, a sprint with other cars on track (some of them vintage cars), with each car having a target number of laps to complete.
http://www.vscc.co.uk/page/events?eventID=1098 It is being run under roadgoing series production car sprint regulations but some aspects of circuit racing regs also apply, and I just want to make sure I won't get turned away at scrutineering. MSA Blue Book J5.4.2 says there must be a mechanism to positively close the throttle in the event of a failure in the linkage - would there be one as standard on a blob WRX engine? Looks like there are two springs in case one fails, but I also seem to have two places where the throttle cable could go, so not sure whether one is a failsafe or acts on the other linkage... anyone? Seems like a simple question but I'd rather look silly now than after driving to Silverstone!

How would they apply this to a DBW system as it's all controlled by the ECU

To enter you need to be a member of the VSCC and have at least a national B race licence. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

the ruling is historic and basically applies to then likes of twin carb set-ups, etc. where additional external springs had to be fitted to ensure positive closure

I joined last year as my Dad has a MG J2 and does some hillclimbs and sprints, and we have done a few things as double-drives (I beat him by 10 seconds in the Pembrey sprint last summer ). The Pom is the only VSCC event that can be entered in a post-war car.

Entry list has just come out, there are 144 entries, covering more than a century of manufacture!
I'm in one of two post-war groups, with a target of 13 laps in 40 minutes (3 mins per lap), which over 3.7 miles works out at an average of about 70 mph. Not really sure how they work out the target, as some other cars on 13 laps are: Triumph TR2 MGB Saab 900 MX-5 Clio 172 and a Fiat Panda 1400! Driven by the bloke who is driving this monster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7fg3ena88k There's another Subaru (Forester XT 2.5) but it's in the other post-war group, and he's got to do 15 laps. Some details on their facebook page here (couldn't work out how to link directly to the post itself). https://www.facebook.com/VintageSportsCarClub
