Default Best driving road.

Sat here in the lorry with a very long journey ahead of me I have some time to think.
So thought I'd start a thread to source the best road.

And I was wondering what you think is the best road for a drive? What's your personal fav when your out?

My 2 favourite roads are:

1: The road from Jackies Hotel to the Ring or Adenaur. Great Great Memories
This one - <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tNbgD8rlm7M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

2: In this country, the road from Fort Augustus to The Isle of Sky is simply stunning

A4059 from Penderyn north, joining the A470 up to Brecon.

Not a complex twisty road - its fast, smooth and has good visibility ahead as you go through the mountains and past lakes. On a quiet day, the whole A4059 can be done on the wrong side of the speed limit Really great road as theres some cracking cambered corners that you can really plant the car into.

Just watch out for sheep

Yup, great area round there. Not sure of the road name/number but the run from Brecon over to Merthyr is awesome as well.

Brecon to Merthyr is the A470 (the A4059 i mentioned turns off halfway down and heads over the mountains).

A4067 heading south from Sennybridge is another good fast road, and the B4520 from Brecon up to Builth is a cracker too, although a bit narrower and more twisty.

There is something about that journey, you don't have to race along but can have a good turn of speed and its very enjoyable

i havent found the best driving road yet, but when I do, the fact that it runs past a lesbian nudist beach just as all four of my tyres blow out will be a dead giveaway....

Agreed. I think Wales has more than its fair share of good driving roads, particularly around Brecon. The other enjojable bit is where the barrier rises on the severn Bridge and you can launch it into about 8 lanes!! I always look left and right hoping that a lambo or something has left the barrier at the same time

Add the A4069 to that......we holiday around that area lots and although only a 'shortish' stretch! what a combination of corners in one area
