Default Grand Prix

Quite an exciting GP, massive disappointment for Russell, but he certainly showed he can compete at the highest level if given the best car. What a cxxk up by Mercedes on the pit stop/tyre change.

He did himself proud. Good to see some new faces on the podium too.

Gutting for Russell but he looked calm, in control of it and didn't make any mistakes under pressure. In an unfamiliar environment, he made Bottas look average.

I don't remember Mercedes making a cockup of that scale since their rise in 2014. In a way, it looks like it was only the front wheel man being alert that spotted they were fitting one of George's tyres to Valterri's car and allowed them to sort it out. If it wasn't spotted at the pits, its likely that it would have been missed until parc ferme and could have meant disqualification.

Also... Perez. What a great job this guy has done all year. He has to be given the 2nd seat at Red Bull now surely? Great to see him finally get a win, especially as it is currently his penultimate F1 race. Great guy, we need to keep him in the sport.
