Default Prova ECU!

Hi All,

So managed to pick up a v1/v2 Prova ECU for my 1993 WRX. Wondered if anyone has ran one of these before?

I believe they are basically a chipped ECU with Higher boost and Advanced Timing and maybe improved fueling?

It will be a while before I fit this to my car as I need to improve fueling and cooling before running the risk of advanced timing. I also need to match the JDM fuel RON as I hear our normal 95 or E10 will just grenade the engine.

Also I wonder if you can remap the chip?

Im currently running walbro 255, decat, filter and Z4 ECU. Oh and ARP headstuds 11mm !

you need to be running "super" regardless..........

most JDM tuning companies were renowned for very aggressive ignition maps, etc and so in general its not really a good idea so simply fit and hope....... it will need AFR's, etc checked as a minimum to guarantee its "safe"

the 'chips' were burnt on the bench and are basically a one use / throw away item - if you needed to change something then you burnt the next chip

Ah so they are more like a super chip rather than an ESL board.

And yes my plan is to have a wideband AFR and Knock detector as safety devices. Aswell as an upgraded intercooler because I currently have the original "slanty".

And your right super unleaded is a must regardless on these cars

Thanks for the info.

ESL is a (relatively) modern solution by implanting a mappable "chip"
this tech was not even thought of 30years or so ago.........
