Default Nurburgring Check List 2019

Not long now !!!

Friday 31st May 2018

06.20 Meet @ the Shell service station Junction 11 M20 (CT21 4GH)

06.40 Leave for Euro tunnel terminal. (2 minutes down the road)

06.45 Check in

07.50 Depart UK.

We will be stopping at the Shell garage/services @ Barchon Sud E40/E42 for breakfast and then convoy/play down to the Hotel

We are staying here: https://www.hohe-acht.com/your-hotel...-nordschleife/

Sat Nav co ordinates for the hotel are:

Latitude: 50.385391 Longitude: 7.023708

We will be taking the route below, Via the E42 (passed Spa).

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Eu...851786!3e0!5i1

Latitude, Longitude 50.65449, 5.71096

Those who have been before will probably have most of this stuff already. For those who have not been before, the below list is invaluable. Most of the items in the "For The Car" section are actually law in Europe, so I would advise that you make sure that you do / have these things arranged.

I'm sure that most of you who have been before will have this stuff, but it's well worth double checking, just in case. Anything that you haven't got can be purchased at places like Halfords.
BLUE are the ones that are Law in Europe! Please remember that the breathalysers are a requirement in France .
But apparently there are no penalties for not having one

The Check List FOR THE CAR

1: Spare Bulb Kit
2: Warning Triangle
3: Hi Visibility Vests (1 for each person in car)
4: Headlight Beam Deflectors (see link below)
5: Fire Extinguisher
6: First Aid Kit
7: Octane Booster (personal choice)
8: Oil (optional but advised)
9: GB Sticker (if you dont have GB on your number plate)
10:Spare Key
11: Sat Nav (with European Data)
12: Crash Helmet (not compulsory)
13: European Insurance & Breakdown Cover (make sure it covers repatriation, just in case)
14: Track insurance ????
15: Driving License, insurance cert. V5 form and MOT certificate to be carried at all times !
16: Locking wheel nut tool
17: Tyre pressure gauge
18: Breathalyser kit

PERSONAL ITEMS

1: PASSPORT !!
2: Euro Tunnel confirmation e-mail with booking reference and dont forget to register you API http://www.eurotunnel.com/uk/advance...r-information/
3: E 111 (optional additional health insurance)
4: Euro's and debit / credit cards (inform bank that you are away for safety)
5: Mobile Phone & Charger
6: Headache Tablets (trust me)
7: European Plug Adaptor
8: Walkie talkies ? (I will be bring the same 3 or more if I can acquire some)
9: Big bag of cash. Euros.

Those with TOM TOM's down load the shell garages onto your european maps. If you know of anything that need adding to this list, please feel free to add it.

Its not long now getting excited !!.

Headlight deflectors can be found here:

235/35/19 cheap enough to you mate. These are better than 888’s in just about every way especially noise.

1968 International Driving permit "You may need this" (£6.50 from the post office)

If you plan on visiting Switzerland "you may" need a 1926 one also.

I was just going to ask if this was also needed.

I have also requested a green card from insurance but unsure if needed

Green cards are not yet required or even available, after a long conversation with my insurer they don't even know what is happening.
We will know more after 12th April hopefully.

Does anyone / everyone have an Emovis Tag? Le Shuttle sent an email about using it to avoid tollgate queues / loose change etc. Wondering what you guys normally do?

Also, do you use those reflectors on headlights if driving after dark?

Thanks!

You dont need the Tag as we dont travel on any French toll roads.

It is compulsory to have beam deflectors fitted day and night.

There aren't any tolls on the route you take so dont need to worry, just need a bit of change for the toilets at the services. I always fit the beam deflectors, one less reason to get pulled over.

Hi guys, just be aware that on any road in France without a central reservation/barrier that used to have a speed limit of 90 kms, the limit is now 80kms. Will probably still show 90 kms on your sat navs.

Close to the Ring main entrance there is a ticket office.
You purchase a Ring card that will have as many lap credits as you wish, in the office they take cash or card but, sometimes paying by card the exchange rate might not be as good as you get in the UK.

Dean please PM me you mobile number.

Is everyone taking a fire extinguisher and spare headlights? I read they are recommended rather than compulsory, so was just curious!
Got some shopping to do this weekend 😁

I wouldn't buy 8 laps worth ahead of time if you've not been before as you'll probably bring a load of them home unused - I know it doesn't sound much but generally most people will do about 4 laps in the weekend! I've only done 30-40 laps in 8 trips, to give you an idea.

Just the bulbs, spare headlights is a bit excessive unless you're planning to have a chat with the armco

George it varries slightly from each country but if you have the equipment below you will be covered.

It is compulsory to have a
spare bulb kit
fire extinguisher.
Hi vis vests for each person stored inside the vehicle
First aid kit
Warning triangle
GB sticker or suitable number plate

Your papers need to carried in the vehicle at all times too.

Every you need is on the first post

Less than a week to go now..

25 euros per lap is for week days only.

for example:
if you pay 100 euro on the app that = 4 laps in the week but will only get you 3 laps of a weekend.

I normally buy a 4 lap ticket at a time from the ticket office close to the entrance,
buying 4 at a time gives you a slight discount.

ps. if you have any laps left over i can help with that. .

Just to let you know that up till now you were required to have a breathlayser kit in your car in France, but that requirement has no legally ended.
