Default 6speed box into my wrx

Right nearly collected all the bits for my wrx overhaul, I just need some advice about the gearbox, it's a 2003 blob and I'm looking at the 6 speed boxs, was looking for a PPg box but they're quite hard to come by and when they do pop up they are stupid money, now I was under the impression that all pre 2005 cars both wrx and sti had the same hubs, shafts ect but I seem to be wrong, can someone confirm this for me please? I have googled it but some people say it's just the box, rear diff and prop I need, others say hubs and shafts aswell. I've even read I will need a different wiring harness which I know is wrong. Cheers guys

I have a six speed in mine out of a WR1 witch Stewart and Dan did the change over for me as it is a very heavy box.Keep the Five speed clutch as it was up rated front shafts but ended up changing them later,Sti prop with the WRX diff and a DCCD controller which all worked but I keep lighting the rear up as it was not a LSD. So my next mod was to put in the LCD diff and STi rear shafts hubs and disc's,bambo,Hardrace rear Adjustable arms plus all the bushes.I have changed the front shafts as I was not happy the way the WRX went in to a STi box but I think I still have the WRX hubs.

rear of new-age STI uses an uprated larger R180 style diff and matching hubs/shafts........

if you use a UK 6spd nonDCCD then the rear diff ratio you currently have matches so its basically plug & play with matching gear linkage, prop, etc. and no requirement for any controller as no DCCD ( you could also get a later box, after martket DCCD controller and fit the whole STi rear end, etc. if wanted)

depending on your power then you can use either the 5spd or 6spd clutch set-up BUT you must use the "set" with matching flywheel to suit the clutch
