Rear disc advice
Hi guys,
One of my rear discs is warped, so I'm looking for a new set of discs. I have an 05 Blob WRX - What size are my rear discs? Any recommended discs? Cheers! |

The standard newage WRX rear discs are 290mm, and they take the smaller 170mm handbrake shoes.
Its unusual to warp a rear disc though from normal driving (and to be able to feel it during braking on the road) unless its getting very hot due to a stuck caliper pistons - which is fairly common on the WRX 2 pots you have on the back. Worth checking to see if the pistons move freely back into the calipers otherwise you'll ruin any new discs too if you don't get it fixed. In terms of recommended discs, give Alyn @ AS Performance a call or try Godspeed or Aztec Performance. Something like this will do the job fine. http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/~god...?id_product=21 |

Thanks Steve, exactly what I needed to know
Good to know about the pistons too - I planned on getting a refurbed set, so that might come sooner rather than later! |

rear calipers rarely if ever suffer from sticking pistons BUT they do suffer from jammed / seixed pads caused by corrosion build up under the pad guides
a 'proper' strip and clean generally does the trick 0191-4103770

Really? Strange, both of my Subaru rear 2 pots (non-Brembos) had a sticky piston on one side before they were both rebuilt 5 or so years ago. Since then, one of those calipers has recently done it again....

Rear brakes swapped out now. Bought the ones from Godspeed.
Pistons moved back in without too much effort, so I'm hoping they're ok Thanks for the advice. |
