Winter Tyres
Hi All. Just a question hope you can help and give advise. This winter they have forecast it being very bad indeed, you only need to look at the long range winter forecast to find out. Anyway would I need to swap tyres for the Winter type or just keep on what I have? I have watched plenty of Vids on youtube with scoobies enjoying the snow so not sure if they will be needed. Last winter how did you guys get on with the snowy conditions? But this year they think there will be even more snow - cant wait!

Mine were fine too, but thinking about investing in some snow chains.

Seems like we all have different ideas on tyres. Might stay with what ive got on now and hope I get a chance of pulling out some EVO,s . Snow chains might be worth a look just to sling in the boot and I reckon you could get some cheap at the moment.

All be it at the time I didnt have a scoob. It wa a golf I bought snow chains bit expains but worth the money never got stuck once and I was the only car out round my way. Down side is when you come to Tarmac. Horrific is all I can say and about ten min per wheel to put on bring a scoob with 4 wheel drive you need one for each. So that's alot of money and a lot of time! But there is a soultion. I found em on the net and there quite cheap. There called snow socks. Quick to put on self centering and arent harsh when you come to the tarmac

I'm from Slovakia and there are very nice winters with lots of snow and there driving with all weather tyres is just suicide and your insurance will be void...
Just have look on test tyres in snow and brake distance with all weather and snow tyres, you will see snow tyres is worth to buy or acceleration on snow/ice with all weather is struggle, yes with low throttle is possible, but with winter tyres its much better drive... Here is nice test of tyres http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=JGfvyPtYR0Y Jura |

5 Top Tips for Winter Driving
1. Leave the same tyres on car and inflate to 50 psi 2. Find section of motorway that has been closed by Police. 3. Remove traffic cones and enter. 4. Stop and replace cones. 5. Drive onto motorway and accelerate up to 100mph. Snatch car to the left and immediately flick car to right until completely sideways. Stay sideways until the next junction then exit. |

I bought winter tyres last year and used them when it was snowy. Obviously you still need to be sensible but I was amazed at the difference. Traction and braking were significantly better compared to the standard tyres. I drove with standard tyres back-to-back.

ive been looking into this aswell for this winter as it will be my 1st one with my scooby! they have got a couple on ebay at the moment with wheels included which aren't a bad price, saves you taking your tyres off.
