New Fuel pump
Went round a roundabout the other night quite "briskly", with just over quarter of a tank in the car and had the dreaded fuel cut on exit,.. I know I know I need to run with at least 1/2 a tank when out for a "spirited" drive etc etc.. but.. figured the pump could be a bit tired as its the original PPP de-badged walbro job..
Bought this as a precaution.

Did you get fuel cut because of the power you're running as well? I've booted it off roundabouts/bends many a time with less than a quarter tank and never experienced it?!

God its a work of art. I wouldn't want to take it out of the box!. I must be driving too slowly as I have never experienced fuel cut even with hardly anything in the tank!.

270 degrees round it, close to the limit of grip then straighten and exit on full bore in 2nd dono about the power, probably contributes in a small way, more the amount of lateral grip available.

Interesting, i've never experienced fuel cut on track either, despite going down to about quarter of a tank.
You sure a pump will sort it? If the current pump sucks on air as the sock is not in fuel, then surely the same will happen with a new pump. Or are you hoping a pump with a higher flow rate will handle it better? |

pump will make no difference if its fuel surge..................

No as Ayln says no difference, I just thought might aswell change it as its fairly old now., will try a little mod in tank aswell to get the left tank return to splash ontop of the pickup sock? I dono.., just thought might aswell do this as a matter of course, I just need to be less aggressive when the fuel is low.
I had no problems at brands when running down to just over a third of a tank.

I thought fuel cut was mainly a result of surge or ecu related?

The fuel cut thing I should have left of the first post.. It was just what got me thinking as to.. hmm perhaps I should replace the pump just as a safe guard to the current one failing (not anything to do with the fact I made it cut by being silly ;P)

Does look so much nicer than the standard walbro too!

fuel CUT is caused by the ECU seeing an over-boost scenario..........
fuel SURGE is caused by either very low fuel level or more generally the fuel moving away from the pick-up due to high cornering loads

Are you sure it was fuel cut and not boost cut.
Fuel cut has you peeling your face off the dashboard and is very severe. Boost cut would be less severe but still quite noticeable. You could have oil getting into the BCS causing a minor blockage in this scenario. |

Or old school, and just a spark plug blowing itself out/Hick on full chat.
Nice bit of bling either way and preventative maintenance is always good. |

Only time I ever had fuel cut was that driving training day we did, that was with just under half a tank, fitted swirl pot and extra pump... Sorted

It did not repeat itself, perhaps I'll run some brake cleaner through the BCS, I have seen knock after exiting a roundabout at speed before in my classic, *knock indicator on apexi hit 95! after coming 270 round a roundabout then giving it stick up a slip road, (it didn't cut though).. again 1/4 of a tank or there about's.. you would think I would have learned by now!. I put that down to running lean due to fueling. Quote:
I think it would really grate especially on long runs.
