Default I'm back!

Evening chaps and chapets.

After flirting with the idea of an M3 and not being able to find one (a lot of bad examples out there or they want stupid money for them) I have found myself these 3 very nice blob sti's, keeping my fingers firmly crossed that none of them sell before saturday, especially the black one as it has a rather nice spec

I'm hoping to go see the black one 1st thing saturday morning and if it's as good as the bloke says it is then I won't bother going the extra 30+ miles to see the other 2, dealer said the bloke who traded it in was in his 60's if that is so then I say top man

Hurst buys them cheap on scabbynet and then puts a couple of grand on top... I would never buy from them and just watch look on scabbynet instead

Nope, standard STI wheels on the black one. Spoke pattern is different on WRXs, and they don't fit over brembos either....

The black is pre-widetrack, the other looks like a widetrack version. Personally I'd try to get one of the widetracks if I could, oh and Hurst cars are well know for the forum +£2k pricing! In fact I'm sure I recognise the black one!

If you've got the choice I'd be looking at a wide track over an older one every time

Well today turned out to be a rather easy day, went to Watford early to view the black one and as soon as the the engine started my jaw dropped, shall we say its a tad on the noisy side

Had a look round her and with it being a 10 year old car there are the obvious stone chips, swirl marks etc which isn't the end of the world, apart from that everything looked in good order and she ticked over beautifuly.

Road test time, firstly the dealer drove her out and plodded around the near-by industrual estate, got down to a round about and on to a stretch of by-pass where he opened her up and holy f**k! it took off, can honestly say I've never felt something accelerate like this. Quick blast up and back and then I took over, heading back towards the by-pass normal speed, round the round about again and my right foot sunk slowly further towards the mat, just over half-throttle and holy f**k again! Off we went flying down the by-pass pulling like a train in each gear.

After this taste of power I knew I couldn't walk away and leave the car there, bit of back and forth with the guy and got £200 off (not amazing I know but still something).

So all in all no need to go the extra 30+ miles to see the 2 grey ones and she now sits proudly on the drive don't think the neighbours approve though, so may have a BuddyClub exhaust up for sale in the not to distant future.

Pics to follow soon as well guys.

Yeah I'm glad I didn't go for an M3 mate, very very nice cars but too expensive to maintain.

The actual spec list I don't know mate, I believe it's been to GRD at some point though, was apparently running at 405bhp when the previous owner bought it and he had it lowered to a safer 350bhp, which is plenty for me.

I do have a bung but it is from a BuddyClub exhaust when I had my 1st Civic Type-R, will give it a go tomorrow and who knows it may work, if it doesn't work I have another exhaust that I had on the GB which should lower the base tone a bit.

Cheers guys, I shall do my best to get to the meet on the 23rd but will have to convince the missus as she has put up with me the past couple of weeks doing nothing but looking at AutoTrader, PistonHeads etc.

Although those 2 weeks have now paid off she mightif I suggest more car stuff .

As for the swirl marks I am useless when it comes to things like that so I'm gonna have to get someone else to sort that for me, for the time being I can live with them as there are a couple of bits that want addressing such as the slam pannel wants a rub down and a respray as its seen better days and might even go for a complete front end respray at some point to get rid of those stone chips.

Nice one Adam. Liking the dual air intakes, and a dark-headlight mod with de-tango would look great on that. A few guys on here have de-tangoed their blobs so plenty of advice if you ever want to do it.

Any under bonnet pics?

Thanks for the comments guys, think I may have an issue as the car has stopped boosting, the turbo starts to spool and then it cuts out making the car cough and splutter, it has an HKS EVC system on it so was wondering if it is that cutting the turbo to stop it over boosting??? Last thing I wanna do is have it let go completely

Could anyone shed any light on this at all?

Well it started doing it in 2nd and is now doing it in 3rd as well, would that match up to a boost leak problem?

i had this same problem the other day on route to samsti, the whiplash happend low down power, i had a split rad hose at the time that was spraying coolent everywere! i did notice water near coilpacks also had a split in the intercooler hose that connecs to throttle body, when i gave it a rev it seem to clear itself and since changing rad and hoses + intercooler and hoses it has been perfectly fine touch wood!! also seemed to run lumpy after restarting when engine is hot

You need to replace the torsion bars with STI ones to balance the weight, I might have a spare support spring from my Orcacri kit as I'm only using one.

Right well a tiny update, looks like the car has a water leak, from what me and my old man can see it looks like the bottom hose, so not overly impressed but once sorted out as well as this boost issue hopefully she'll serve me well.

I would like to think so mate but if its something simple like a hose then not really worth worrying about and will just get it sorted.

Once the water leak is fixed then will get all the hoses checked and will take it to JGM and let Simon make sure the boost control system is doing its job properly.

Not really something you wanna do after just buying a vechile but I don't wanna just give up on it.

Cheers for that mate, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that its just bad timing and that more than likely the last owner didn't take as much care as he claimed he did.
