Did any of you see this on Pistonheads and watch the associated videos, can't believe the works Fiat entry was a bunch of Cinquecentos and the works VW entry were Golf Diesels, the VLN 24 has certainly moved even if one of the winning drivers is very familiar.

Yeah I quickly washed my car late last night after a glorious day, 29C, this morning I left for work and it was cloudy but still nice but then I got close to the office and the rain came down. The thing to really mess things up are the insects as they're out in full force now, I only drove 30min home last night from Germany and the windscreen was covered again

Yeah, Ginola sent us some pics on whatsapp, he's been there all week and the car was covered.

Will remember spare microfibres for cleaning the bugs off!

Here's something else you might want to add to the list of things to have with your vehicle - a rescue sheet. I only discovered this today: http://www.acl.lu/Mobilite/Rescue-Sheet

Basically it gives the rescue services the info they need to know exactly the best places to cut to get you out as quickly and safely as possible. These are the ones for EU models, http://www.acl.lu/Mobilite/Rescue-Sh...-constructeurs not sure where you would find them for UK spec vehicles.

Oh and a handy guide translation guide for a couple of the vehicle docs you must have onboard and none of which must be copies, it's the most commonly used English phrases the police will use that don't mean much in English unless you know what they are:
  • Grey Card = V5
  • Control Certificate = MOT Certificate
  • Green Card = European Insurance Certificate, signed!!
  • ID = Your Passport

I also have to carry the car's "Certificate of Conformity" but I don't know if you get given one with UK cars - it details the exact specifications of the car as it was imported, with any subsequent changes listed on the grey card (V5). It's the thing that prevents me simply putting any old wheels/tyres on my car.

That's something worth adding to your packing lists, windscreen cleaner.

Although it won't shift everything that can hit your windscreen on the autobahns:

100% bring full bottle of windscreen cleaner. Bugs galore in the evenings, never seen anything like it in the UK

Car felt great, she goes nicely and the coilovers and tyres have made a big difference.

Weather at the hotel was grey, cloudy, foggy. Weather at the track was sunny and clear, damp in the trees though.

Do we know anyone with a white classic?

And who's binned it on the road by the garage or are the police just doing spot checks

Not sure, it was really busy up there later yesterday, getting really busy up at Brunchen for VLN. Like a small rave going on.

Thumbs up

Just got home - had an extremely good time and the hotel was cracking. Was really nice to meet everyone and to get to share some great moments (the ice cream incident), and especially the awesome passenger trip round the Ring with Steve - wow, just wow. Hope the rest of you have a safe and more pleasant journey back unlike the miserable trip out here.

I've just had time as I chill out to sort my photos into a Google album, so enjoy. I'm not a huge photographer so there aren't too many. Hope to have my GoPro footage sorted in the next day or two, I really hope the sound in the tunnels comes out.

Can't wait for 2018

Sounds like you had a good time and resisted the temptation to take your car on the track. Glad to see you were sticking to healthy food!!!

Yes. That is correct Terry. I did not. At any time. Take my STI. Around the Ring. Nope. Not once. Not even photographic evidence.
