Woke up with full on man flu this morning. So the paperwork I was intending doing got ignored and I removed boot lid, hinges, lock etc and fitted the v light fibreglass boot I forgot I bought years ago with bonnet pins.
Needs painting etc
Saved a fair bit of weight so need 1 less bhp now

Stews done a cracking job of mounting turbos, only exhaust wrap and oil and water to go

Simon

well they do deffo sound nice.

I dont think normally aspirated it will do much over 300bhp..

I cant remember what my was but we did do a run at 0boost and it was fairly impressive but I have fairly wild cams.

you wouldnt want the expense really I assume of a standalone ecu unless you went for the cheaper options like mega skirt etc.. which arent very nice.

I would be inclined to install the original ecu and loom just shortenned and stripped of unneeded items?

Thanks Simon appreciated, you responded very quickly whilst I moved my query to my original thread, thanks again. There is a blue race impreza which is NA using solid lifters from a BMW?? I guess to raise the rev limit. have you heard of this conversion at all. The other option I was considering was the light pressure turbo option 5 psi or there abouts. What needs to be done to the standard internals for this route? What can the standard internals cope with?

I have converted or more accurately steve at smg converted my heads to solid lifters from another impreza engine.

I know the car you mean.

I would assume the standard internals would take that. The cams are very lame but could be reground to slightly increase lift and duration which would help

Thanks Simon, loads of other questions but not my thread, perhaps our paths will cross at some point and you'll let me bend your ear a little.

All the best,

Mike.

Couple of hours spent today, swapped lens about to reveal the new billet gt30 high beams

Will add mesh filters to keep small animals and children being sucked into the turbos

That looks quality I guess you won't be running the car in the wet though, don't want the turbos to ingest water?

Looks great though, being able to see the turbine through the headlamps is the nuts lol

I have a few different filter ideas, a couple of which address the water issue... I want to test them out to see if there is a gain having it ramair through the headlight or not.

Thats the idea . My changes on the six speed were 400 to 250ms using flat shift and I mullered the synchros so should be quicker and not need rebuilding so often.
With flatshift and no not having to use the clutch changes around 100ms

Towing will cost a small fortune & if its a stag do then all hire Swifts or similar.
That gear change is unreall

Exactly although towing would be less fuel than the car and not a 22litre tank

Spent a bit of time working on/with the car nothing major, lot of tidying or wiring and altering to how I want and some more weight removed from the car. HeadLights wired and driven it a few times it has been dry ish.

Hopefully some more inuse videos and pictures coming.
Quick vid when I tested the new camera.
The bleeping from the camera thinking I have had an accident lol
I need to adjust sensitivity.

With nothing major planned for upgrading over winter I seem to have done a lot and have a lot more stuff to do.

adjusted the ride height a little

Cars had a bit of a health check with cam timing checked, compression test and bore scope check of the pistons and valves etc so decided no need to refresh the engine and in reality although the use of it has so far been on boost most of the time its not exactly done many miles

mapped it on the new turbos and although happy with the power and the spool and torque the shape of the power curves werent ideal for racing so the exhaust manifolds are being redone (as I was concerned they might cause an issue as were never specced for the size of turbos now fitted).. Stew @ TFS racing has been tasked with the job of making replacement manifolds (I have probably annoyed the wossits off him with my ocd requests and last minute adjustments and changing my mind more times than changing gear on my way there )
Stew seems to be dancing whilst working so I cant have annoyed him too much yet.

I then have some Christmas presents I bought for the car to fit (SD motorsport rear subframe, white line adjustable rear arms - thanks Alyn @ AS performance and a Carbon Prop - Thanks RCM for the cracking deal on it - still laughing at Olly "you would rather be killed by Carbon?" hopefully not) and then I shall remap it for the new manifolds and hopefully get power curves more to my liking, and I have a lot of tidying up planned - arches need repainting, boot needs painting and need to collect and paint and fit new bonnet (Haven't forgotten Mark Mr Lateral )

Was a shame the airfield day was cancelled because of the snow so looks like my first real play with the new gearbox will be Marham in March for 30-130
