So just so I can gauge things - how many Euro's do people take with them? I appreciate it depends how much booze, and food people eat, but on an average do people think €500 would be sufficient for 2 peoples food / drink / 3-4 laps of the ring / petrol for the whole trip? Or am I in fantasy land ??

Think I took minimal Euros, just enough for food etc on the way down, I paid for all my fuel by card (I think that was the only option at the Belgian services) and just went to the cash point when needed. Think I spent a good £250 to £300 on fuel alone, it's about 1/4 of a tank per lap

Thanks Shane......In that case the extra cash put aside for map check e.t.c. might have to go towards fuel / spending money instead

Good to know though

Fuel was the main cost after accommodation, once you're sitting at 90 to 100 on the Autobahns they drink fuel, I dread to think what Chris spent in his Type R with the low ratio 5th gear, saying that a newage STI has a 6 speed box so may be a little better on the run there and back. Think those that go as a couple budget about £1000 for the trip, I know there are some old threads somewhere that break the costs down.

Brimmed in Hastings, topped up on M20, Brimmed in Belgium, another tank of 102 in Adenau, again in Cochem and then probably again on the way home. Take the Audi and do it all on a single tank.

Ha Ha Ha - id love to take the Audi - quiet drive, economic, although its not really in the spirit of the SES Ring Trip ha ha...

If you want to do 3-4 laps then buy a 4 lap ticket which is about 100 euro.

Spend as much as you like on food/drink. I reckon if you allocate enough to fill the car 4 or 5 times in total, you'll be about right (2 of these in Belgium on the out/return trip). If you get short of cash there's a cashpoint 5 mins up the road from the hotel where you can get more euros out.

If you are still TMIC be very careful on long high speed runs as the inlet temps go through the roof as the scoop becomes ineffective above about 80!

V-Power is readily available but iirc the Belgium fuel is not as good as French or German. The best Fuel is in Adenau!

Experience speaks!

Scott and I sat on the Autobahns between 80-100 most of the way, we knew we weren't far behind those running front mounts when we found bits of Charlies Splitter, Wheel arch liner and and STI mudflap in our lane.

Aral petrol station in Adenau sells 102 ron and is good stuff.
Shell in Cochem sells VPowerRacing (100 ron) as Shane says.

I'd take a single bottle of NF as i think you only use half per tank, only needed in Belgium if you're mapped for 99 ron fuel as the VPower there is only 98. If you're still on a standard map you won't need any octane booster.

On the autobahns we tend to cruise at 80ish with the occasional blat slightly above that

Default Updated SES 2016 Trip to Nurburgring - 3/6/16 to 7/6/16

The Aral petrol station just by Sabines team base (a little way past the petrol station with ring shop and web cam, near the entrance) is 3cents or even 5cents a litre cheaper than the one in Adanau for 102

I normally take 1 or 2 bottles of NF Formula, other octane boosters are generally very very sub par in comparison.

I don't think the Belgium brew is as high as 98.

It's labelled as 98 but the quality seems to be questionable
