Just tried booking 'higher vehicles' no departure time for 07:50 available, nearest to that is 07:20 . Normal deck available for 07:50, went on normal deck last time and had no issues although on sti suspension. Looking at last year's cancelled/rescheduled ticket I'm apparently out there at the moment returning on the 31st

Ron the £81 is for a standard fare and you can book the 07:50 but requesting short stay I didn't get that option on the higher vehicle list.

As Steve says above, the saver fare train is no go but the standard fare train is available £81 though!! Not sure how it works but if your using the tesco points you may be able to get the price down?

Think the last time I went (with PPP) we had some on the normal train and some on he high vehicle bit, just waited on the roadside for everyone without issue

The low level of the double decks are fine for low cars

The marshalls will see how you are and direct you accordingly..

Personally I would lift yours up a little, it will bottom out or rub the wheel arches in the carousel

I have paid for the room direct to Jackie's account + booked the Euro Tunnel (may have to amend it as I got the 07:20 not 07:50 and I think that's because it removed the option when I selected the 1.85m + option. I'll call them tomorrow

I'm going to be headding back on the Monday - 18:20 departure.

Have been planning to visit Germany so seems sensibly to meet up with you guys.A few questions first.Would love to drive a circuit of the ring, but I don't have a "track" car and its impossible in France to get Track insurance. So is it possible to access the ring when its really quite and get in a slow lap. Will anyone else be running without track insurance.Failing that could anyone take me as a passenger.I of course have no need for a ferry booking, but could possibly meet up with you all on route. Finally a massive thanks to BIG "E" for all the work he must have put in the get this trip organised.

Be great to have you along Terry will you be staying with us at Jackies?

1: you don't need a 'track' car, you'll be surprised at what you see going round

2: theres plenty of 'quiet spots' throughout the trip and you can drive as fast as 'you' want to......... you really just need to be aware of anything coming fast behind you, indicate right, keep right and give them plenty of room

2a: last time I went the ring was opened earlier than scheduled and the track was almost empty, it was like a private SES day fingers crossed for this year.

3: i'm sure you'll have no problem getting a passenger lap

4: I believe some do run without 'track insurance'?

5: Yep, massive thanks to Ian

Ron's pretty much answered it but yes, plenty of people go without track cover. What is and what isn't covered by insurance is a grey area anyway.

Passenger laps won't be a problem, but you'll definitely want to drive it yourself to tick that box!

On the insurance side, I would be concerned if your insurance doesn't cover you for the Ring, as it is still classed as a German toll road on Touristfarten. Which means Police may attend an accident, and if fatal/Serious, you may get sued for damages etc etc.

Personally I would want to know I am covered.

Most UK car policies have a disclaimer on them now specifically stating that you are not covered on the Nurburgring Nordschleiffe. There is then the grey area of track insurance as it's not an organised track day with all health and safety resources that go with it. You can bet any insurance company is going to do their utmost to avoid paying out.

Ah, Pete dropped out then?

Stiggy, your car is about 10 years overdue a good long run on the autobahn!

Unfortunately Pete has had pull out for personal reasons..

If he was to use his scoob properly on The Ring trip he would come out with a case of serious sweats and have to spend a week in the loo!!

He would also have to get tyres all round as his (originals) have started to perish !

It is a shame though as he was looking forward to the trip.

Still more time spent with my boy is always good.

Looks like this date is all good for me and as I have not done many miles in the last two years and the scoob is with Stuart sorting the gear box so I just need a excuse to give it a good wiz at the ring. So is there any twin room left.
