Had to start mine with the heaters on full to melt the ice on the bonnet and roof so I could dry it.

Cleaned mine yesterday after a 200 mile tour of Kent Surrey and Sussex trying to find a k1 replacement.
Left the wheels till this morning but decided on a warm bucket of water for wheels 2, 3 & 4 !!! |

Finally had a quick play with the DA polished, medium pad and compound on the rear spoiler which has always been covered in really bad swirl marks, relatively happy, will attack the whole car when I have time.

Just fixed a load of the picture links by moving stuff to Flikr (yes I was bored) and noticed that not all of the links to photobucket are broken, will keep an eye on them as have moved everything over now. Can everyone else see the photos on Page 2 of this thread?

Think they were cached on the laptop as they wouldn't load on my phone, should all be fixed now other than those that are in quoted text.
Don't think it looks too bad seeing as it will be 20 years old next year. |

Looking good Shane
#162

Just need to fit it now...
...and swap the fans over as the 4 blade one should be on the other side. |
#163

Wow that fan assembly is clean, nice work
#164

Looks a clean set up,
#165

Blasted, plated and powder coated, they won't rust again, fan blades were cleaned with autosol metal polish of all things, seemed to work well, new stainless nuts holding the fans in and new stainless bolts for the shroud mounts, just need to find a way of securing the connectors to the shrouds as the little clips fell apart, don't want to leave them loose as they are next to the headers.
Will do the cam belt while I have access and Probably fit the new bumper bar that I've had for about 5 years. |

As some will have seen from Facebook, it's been a busy day:
Old rad and fans out, told you they were bad. Thankfully no real rust in the front panel where the rad mounts, it's had a rub down and a coat of paint to clean it up. Also sorted out the bumper bar, I saw this was a bit crusty not long after I got the car in 2012 when I changed a sidelight bulb. I picked up one from JPP from an imported V3/4 STI, thought it was about time I fitted it, hadn't realised how different they were. Was about to get the grinder out but thought I'd do a trial fit before I painted it and the bumper fits over it fine, so bolted in place, one less job to do. . Next job for tomorrow is cam belt whilst there's plenty of room and then put it all back together again. |
#172
Good work, Looks like that's the next job for me. Better to be safe than sorry.
Link to fan shrouds and rad would be useful ;o) |
#173
Fan shrouds were given to me, I just stripped them down and dropped them to the powder coasters, rad was an eBay special. Only other thing you'll need is new hose clips and for piece of mind, new top and bottom hoses.
#174
Did you use Hastings powder&paint as I thought they had quite a high minimum order ££
#175
Yep, they did them for £30.
#176
all go then
#177
Yep, all done. Cam belt, tensioner and all pulleys and idler, new aux belts, new radiator, fans and shrouds, new bumper bar and a fresh load of coolant.
Filled it in reverse from the turbo hose with the heater open until the header tank was full, ran until the temperature Gauge was nearly half way, topped up header and expansion and cap on and ran till the fans cut in. Allowed to cool and topped up with a small amount. Been out for a blast on this hot day and no problems. |
#178
Spot on that's exactly how I did mine. Should be good for ages now. Worth looking at other hoses tho that turbo hose you filled from I found mine not to seal
Properly again after so ended with new one and clips |
#179
Top and bottom hoses, turbo hose and the 2 thin ones from the header tank to rad and expansion bottle are now silicone with new jubilee clips.
Just need to save pennies for a new clutch now. |

I don't care if it can't be seen, I couldn't fit looking like that.

Seem to spend more time cleaning parts than I do the car, picked up some alloy front wishbones all the way from bonnie Scotland, were a little dirty so say the least.
Quick pressure wash. De-grease And a light rub down Just need to order a new set of drop links, possibly polly bush them and get them fitted |

Good job there Shane

Found these by chance off one of the Facebook groups, got the pair delivered for less than the price of an aftermarket steel arm so quite happy.

Very nice, have you driven it?
#195

Just nipped out in it to drop the boy at air cadets, definitely louder but hadn't driven it for 3 weeks so difficult to say how much. Not driven it hard as need to put the Apexi in and get it mapped.

Well finally got the alloy lower arms, new droplinks and new ball joints fitted today, wasn't too bad a job other than rounding off one of the pinch bolts on the ball joints, got it undone with a 13mm impact socket hammered onto it in the end.
Also a bit of new under bonnet bling, how do the chinese manage to do these for £4.99 delivered, the STI logo is even up the right way when its fitted. |

Had this fitted for a few weeks now and forgot I finally got a photo of it lit up at night, 60mm Apexi boost gauge that I got from Leighton in a modified 52mm GC8 specific pillar pod, nice colour match to the rest of the dash both in in daylight and when illuminated. Tried loads of methods of mounting the pod without putting a screw into the A pillar but had to give in as it just wouldn't sit flush or stay in place.
[/url] Also mounted the Power FC Commander, really need to get round to fitting the Power FC as well now. |

Looks good in your car I did love the gauge but wanted more and couldn't find any that match.
