Had me worried you were going to faceplant the cliff, and that was only from watching in my rear view mirror

Scotty- Hopefully extending the house this year, planning permission has just been submitted. Plus already doing alot this year.

Granby- Takes alot more than that to get my fritter going! I've had nearly 37 years being in the passenger seat with the old man driving!! Plus I knew you had it under control

As for Ron and Stiggy drinking....Pah....mere novices. Lol. (check this out, I've not had a beer or a ciggie in 23 days!!!)

Just looking at getting a few bits for the ring trip........

Going to get myself a breath analyser as apparantly you need one for the French bit, although I believe there is no fine for not carrying one but just in case i'm getting one..........

Can't be arsed with throw away ones so getting one that will last for future trips if needed..... Getting myself this one

Its only £2

Anyone else want one whilst i'm ordering? Will bring them with me and give them out at the stop prior to the train (or on the train) and can swap for a nice shiney two pound coin

Please see THIS THREAD for breathalyzer list

Important documents:
Vehicles from the UK may be imported into France for up to 6 months in any period of 12 months. When driving in France the following documents should be carried:

Full, valid driving licence*
Proof of Insurance (third party or above)
Proof of ID (Passport)
Proof of ownership (V5C Certificate)
*International Driving Permits are recognised but not compulsory

While driving in France you are required by law to carry the following items. Hefty on-the-spot fines can be issued for failing to carry specific items:

Reflective jackets (must be kept inside the vehicle, within reach)
Warning triangle (compulsory in every vehicle with 4 wheels or more)
Headlamp beam deflectors (Depending on your car, you will either need deflector stickers or have to adjust the beam manually)
Breathalysers/alcohol test (As of January 2013 the French government announced that the introduction of an €11 fine has been postponed indefinitely)
Motorcyclists (Safety helmets are compulsory for drivers and passengers of mopeds and motorcycles. Helmets must have reflective elements as per paragraph 6.16 of ECE regulation 22-04.)

From searching around, you must carry one in France but there is no longer a fine for not doing so!! not sure how it works but for the sake of £2 i'm not going to be the one to find out

You don't need to take breathalysers now but my own opinion Is that for sure some old French policeman will forget or just be awkward and for the sake of a couple of pounds it stops any long delay. Plus with all that German beer maybe it's worthwhile having a check before you drive if you have a heavy night.

Does it give you a reading of how many mg of alcohol in your breath, or just a simple 'don't even think about driving you feckwit' answer? As Si says, could be fun after a few drinks

If you wish to that is fine and easier.

I believe if my memory serves me correctly, the last time we stayed at Jackies some people paid direct, those that did pay deposits got there money back at the hotel prior to paying their final bill.

At current exchange rate - it works out to £280.88p for the comfort room by my calculations (somebody please confirm) which is £6 cheaper than week ago

Time to pay up me thinks!

You can pay for the Hotel by either Bank Transfer or Cash not Paypal to SES

All the prices are on the hotels web site.

Comfort rooms = 372 euros Per room (4 nights)

Standard rooms = 332 euros Per room (4 nights)

Single room = 220 euros Per room (4 nights)

Thanks 'E', was meant to be 'pay the deposit to the SES Paypal account' but guess there is no need if paying the hotel the full amount direct...

I have booked it this early because you often find the price increases closer to departure.

Please Note
The departure times and that I am booked in, the over 1.85m category, the reason for this is, because of low ride height.
Which means I will be on the lower deck not having to go up the step entry slope on the train.
If we all do this hopefully we will all be on the same part of the train which makes life easier when trying to regroup on arrival in France

Don't worry too much if you can't get in the high carriage, unless you're running coil overs on their lowest setting or a ground scraping splitter you'll be fine on the ramp to the upper deck, my old Passat used to beach on speed humps and that made it to the upper deck fine.

I'm the same, I left my booking late last year by mistake and then couldn't get in the high vehicles, so ended up on the top deck. Didn't scrape at all and i'm on coilovers (although my front splitter isn't as low as the HT Autos style ones).

More important that we're on the same train (the trains are half double decker, half tall vehicles) so we can easily regroup on the other side.

The idea of the lower deck serves two purposes.

1 for lower cars to get on and

2 . Hopefully we get on together and people don't get lost within a mile of getting of the train...

A certain someone knows who he is..

It is also wise to fill your tank before you get on the train...

According to the email you can fill them in at any point before the booking as the confirmation email has a password which allows you to log on and fill in the API details
