Long day and got home 30 mins ago.

The P1 was beginning to max out on fuel around the 540 mark and with the broken valve still in mind Paul Blamire done the sensible thing and allowed head room for safety so it's running at 516 now.
Not forgetting it's now 2.1 rather than 2.0. This would have played a part in the fueling maxing out.

Eventually left RCM early evening with Eureka sitting beside me in the P1 and Crowman & Pieman following in Crowmans BMW (company car). All three mates came up with me at 6.30 am.

Just before we left Paul advised me that he had altered the 9 setting Launch Control dial. 0, 1 & 2 were now boost control only with 3-9 set up for LC with increasing rpm as it was before and a less fierce launch if I use 0, 1 or 2.

Drove out of RCM and ITCHING to floor the thing. The roads or traffic didn't allow me to floor it for several miles. Whilst in 3rd I floored it up to 7500, in 4th and back on the floor but had to lift straight away due to a roundabout ahead. It picked up well and felt good but to be honest it wasn't such a big leap as I thought.

Floored it several more times on the way home and then thought mmmmm its still fooking quick though. Floored it in 6th and noticed the red light on the Turbo Boost Defi which isn't uncommon when you have just had work done on your engine, It just needs to be reset which is a 30 second job.

Got ONE mile from my house and Eureka and I were talking about the LC dial so I pulled up. Checked the dial and it was at 0 like it should be unless I'm going to use the LC. I then floored it watching the boost gauge stop at 1.0 bar !!!!!!!

The penny then dropped about what Paul had told us and I turned to dial to 2, floored the thing and all hell broke loose and thought YESSSSSSSSSSS that’s more like my old P1 :001_rolleyes:

The engine does sound different (louder) and the bangs and pops happen a lot more on normal driving.
Haven’t tried the LC / AL yet but that will be noisier go by the engine sound, so if you are thinking of photos or filming with yer phones/cameras stay well back. I fooked 6 microphones on guys phones so far. 

Don't forget the 520 its running at now is V Power only. I still have Meths as an option for a fair bit more power. It's also running in a very safe mode which is good to know.
Will I be using Meths in the future? .......... you know Fudge

Fooking awesome !!!!!!

520bhp in P1 must be mind blowing,we are running in new age wagon 490bhp and still think is great, but with 520bhp in classic must be something

Good work Clive and really pleased for you

Thanks guys n gals

It sounds different (louder) and the bangs and pops are more frequent

As MC told me today "the P1 is now optimum for the streets. More power would prove no gain as a road car".

500+ in a 1290kg car that is set up right is scary when driven hard. All passengers develop a huge grin normally followed a word beginning with F

Now the P1 is back to normal and the body has been detailed I need to attack the engine bay. That needs a fair bit of work on it.

Other than 30 minutes on the metal i've cleaned nothing in five months. It's never looked this bad but that will be sorted soon and I'll post up a picture when it's clean.

RCM's dyno must surely be very conservative as the P1 is certainly faster ???
It feels much quicker than 516

It's said that SRR would show about 20 extra bhp compared to the rollers at RCM. Not sure how right that is, but there will always be those discrepancies between rollers.

Just out of interest, what was the ambient temp in the room, that has a bearing too.

Cracking graphs though mate

Now dont jump down my kneck! I would of thought a RCM built 2.2,Gt30 billet wheel tubby with an 82 housing should be making more than that. Especialy running that sort of boost. Maybe your right Clive & you have got a conservative R&R figure. Only one way to find out Charlie's or Jrm's. :EVO:

was interesting to watch it mapped, i know sod all about mapping , but looked like a very methodical process with gradual tweaks over a good few hours.
Speaking to paul, he said he could give Clive some larger dyno figures by upping boost etc , but would not leave it running so close to the limit as far as fuelling goes, so whats the point.

Bugger me its loud and cold in those dyno rooms

HongKong: I was waiting for the new Cozzy 2.5 motor for P2 but there seems to be a long delay before releasing? Not sure what is going on.
Regarding the P1 no-one knows better than Matt Clark so I leave everything up to him mate.

Graphs

Nige, remember the new turbo will be pulling in more air. The induction is much louder than previous turbo which suggests a large air flow. If I had larger injectors and twin competition fuel pumps I dare say the figures would be much higher but Paul played it safe.

Dont let those figures fool you. It's a fair bit quicker than what it was mate!
On the way home Eureka (passenger) said it was much quicker than his when he was running mid 500's.

I dont understand how these dyno figures work because it doesnt add up.
To be honest I was shocked it never made more on the dyno. I was more shocked when experiencing the results as it pulls like mad (as the graphs suggests.
Look at the incline degree on boost ! and how well it holds.

I'm still puzzled at the 516 ????????? that's the bit that seems strange.

But at the end of the day the bhp & torque figures don't matter, it's how it drives and by going what Clive says hes more than happy with that

Will be good to compare Bluebugeys at Jrm/Sumo on the 19th. Ive told them one of the cars will be at SRR 3days before Sumo. I havent said who's car it is.

Crowman & Pieman will give you an idea of how the P1 pulled away on the way home last night remembering it was running less than half boost.
When we switched the LC from 0 to 2 it was a totally different ball game and instantly came alive.

Well, I'm far from an expert on big power cars, but I daresay it doesn't matter what the figure you get on the print out says: its how it drives on the road thats the important bit, right? And if it feels quicker (and is noisier!) then it sounds like a success to me!

Yep, windows open for the first half mile so we could hear the old girl.
2nd time you booted it, it looked and sounded fantastic

Ah but did you average 62mpg like my trusty german tractor , used less in the round trip than yours did in the first mapping session

Im not trying to upset people. Ive had my fair share of stick on here with my car. My opinion & just mine say's the figures are low & laggy. Clives bum dyno tells another story. Just as a quick comparison this was mine on an Fp black just a 2 litre

The power is at the wheels now if you + 22/24% to that figure will give you a rough fly figure. Can you see what i mean more bhp more ftlb torque at the same 2bar with less cc & comes in early'r. Mine is no were near that now by the way as the tubby blew up, The fp black uses the same size wheel as Clives. So what im saying is the R&R figure's looks very CONSERVATIVE. Bum dyno all the way for me. When mine goes on the dyno on the 19th you guy's will have a giggle it may just get to 400atw. That's not how it feel's on the road though.
