So i've been looking for a set of rear spats for the wagon and found these on ebay.





Not really knowing how different the saloon bumper is to the wagon, i thought i'd take the plunge. Turns out they're very different by about 6ins or so i think. So am now a bit unsure whether to have a go at mdifying them to fit and maybe come up with something a bit different or sell them and get the ones for double the price which are specifically for the wagon.

Well thats what i thought too. I'm sure that i'd seen some spats that were advertised to fit both saloon and wagon but unless i'm sizing these up the wrong way (unlikely), they are definately not for mine. Gonna get the car in the work shop in a bit and see what i can come up with.

Been a little while since I did anything to the wagon so treated myself with some new bits. A boot full of happy!!! New drop links, pro flex arb bushes, Godspeed discs and Kevlar pads and a ball joint. Hoses are still to be fitted.

Will plasti dip seal the wheel as well? Only reason I ask is cos the laquer is peeling all over the place so will need to be rubbed down to get a smooth finish which will no doubt lead to bare metal in places. Could it corrode under the dip?

Can anyone tell me what the two orange hoses top right and top left are for. The one on the right which I removed first let out a hiss when I took it off.

Not sure, i'm no mechanic, but I had a look on mine and its definitely brake related, it feeds the brake servo from the intake manifold?

And i couldn't see the hose that goes nowhere on mine, but there's no room there to see it as i've got the STI intercooler which is a bit wider.

Sure someone will know though!

Nick, the orange pipe that goes down to the inlet pipe, just to the left of where the throttle cable fixes to the manifold, pop that off again and check the boost pipes under/below it. They almost double back on them selves and plug into a sensor....and pop off really easily. You could have moved it the you fitted the pipe.

Steve, the pipe on the right as a non return valve in it. Or rather, should have. I've put the old pipe back in and it works normally again. Just the boost issue to fix now.

Thanks to CJ for having a look and then arranging this little visit for me. Charlie says it's not broken! No problems with a boost leak, just a new noise. It's boosting well, fuel is a little lean but the engine is good and strong.

Ha, maybe, I keep on saying I don't want more power though. A service and MOT is first. Want to get some silicone intercooler pipes or at least another oem one to try and see if that's where my new noise is coming from. I still don't think it's boosting right regardless of what the rolling road has said. It just doesn't feel quite right. I really want to have a go at the handling so I think New shocks and lowered springs will be next.

All has been a bit quiet over the last few months as I've been modifying my life rather than my car. Did this:





Went on our honeymoon to Mexico. Beautiful place, if only our luggage had turned up! On going arguments with Thomson here.

Got a new mascot for the car - Eddie



And a new bike:



Now just in time for Christmas the clutch gave in so got myself an Exedy organic one and had it fitted by East Sussex mobile services. Now feels like a new car and my pocket feels a fair bit lighter.
The clutch is probably the last thing that I'll do as I think I'll be looking to sell up early next year. Don't particularly want to sell her but I'd rather save an extra couple of hundred a month rather than put it in the fuel tank.
