Small job for the day -

Put the noise maker back on, track system taken off and put in storage...

Also took the time to change up 3 out of the 4 exhaust rubbers for performance stiff ones...

Old ones were a little soft but not to out of shape...

I didn’t manage to change the 4th one as it’s the only one held in by a bracket... well the bolts and nuts are 17yrs old and we’re not budging!!

Not matter how much WD40 and soaking they didn’t want to let go so I’ll source a new bracket and bolts and then cut off the offending old number and replace at a later date

If you manage to find a place that supplies the bracket holding the last hanger, let me know mate. Mine is bent and twisted to hell as I had the same problem and set about beating the crap out of it until the nut gave up!

I had a spare one until about a year ago! Had to remove it for the towbar so had it sitting in the garage

To be fair, it looks a damn simple piece to fabricate if needed. Just easier if somewhere like ICP sells them cheap enough....

its a captive nut on the outside and a 14mm bolt that runs through from the centre line out over.........
you could unbolt it from the chassis and then you would have more purchase on the bench

The bolts to the chassis are fairly mullered as well

Don’t suppose you supply a replacement part Alyn? Or fabricate ones?

Are you going to give it a decent coat of paint before you fit it?

Wasn’t planning to as it’s painted black anyway and if I slapped on thick layers of paint I didn’t want to make fitting the hanger difficult and get paint in the screw thread...

Well what a faff that was!

But............

Whilst I was under there and had the exhaust off I tried to see why it was knocking on the subframe and the rear diff bolt... shaved a bit off the subframe to stop that banging but things were not quite right...

Then I spotted this.......

Drivers side looking fine and straight...

Passenger side - not so straight!

Guess what I need to get before Germany

Glad you sorted this issue, and found the other before your ring trip. Top tip always jack the rear diff up on the scoob easy and safest place I find.

Well little job done this morning.

Tegiwa brake stopper fitted - although not the 20min job it reckoned!!

Had to remove induction cone, and boost solenoid bracket to get proper access and then the holes didn’t quite line up so a bit of force needed to line everything up whilst screwing.. meant the stopper “red button” wasn’t sitting quite squarely and so screwing that in was very awkward as it wasn’t going straight with the thread but it’s on!

Am surprised though how much flex there still is on the cylinder when brake pedal is pushed but I guess it’s got to be better than it was

It's quite scary how much the bulkhead flexes when you push hard on the brake pedal, I noticed it when I was bleeding the brakes on mine. I keep looking at them and they're all blue and I can't be doing with spraying it before I fit it.

Yeah right! No chance of that mate..

I have all the gear no idea Ian you know that

And I’ve only done exhaust hangers and brake stopper None of the other goodies will be on before the end of the year I don’t think...

I don’t know the ring like I do lydden and brands and tbh it terrifies me! So much traffic and cars way way way faster than me so I’m quite happy doing my tourist laps at pansy miles an hour

Besides as per previous discussions, power doesn’t make up for skill and knowledge - and you have that in abundance when it comes to Germany

Don't doubt yourself! you do just fine! Brake stoppers make a surprising difference to pedal feel, I have an integral one with the strut brace, I remember fitting it at jap performance openday... I had to borrow 2x trolley jacks and drop the front suspension!!

Too kind Dave

Hoping it makes a difference - as mentioned it does still flex when I press the brake pedal but I’ll get Jules to look it over on May 11th

Small update -
I finally got round to getting my wheels refurbished by Lepsons.

Amazing guys, giving me a factory tour and introducing me to the sprayer and repair guys.

Cup of tea and quick discussion and we decided on the best paint match. After negotiation I managed to get the barrels done and wheel weights done F.O.C. as well!

Picked them up today and have to say I am very very impressed! They look better than new! The new gold has a tad more metallic fleck in it and having the barrels painted and laquered as well really gives them a clean shine!

Currently in the process of ceramic coating and layering up some wax but here’s some pics!

I like that Ryan, it's on my to do list and to use Lepsons. I might be using Goodrims in Crayford for the wheels on the wagon re funds available as I managed to kerb the complete edge on the nearside front on Tuesday and the other 3 aren't great either.

Hi Alyn,

Bit confused? Lepsons take the tyre off, chemical remove all paint, fix any damage, primer, spray, laquer then refit the tyres.. takes 4-5 days

I am then ceramic coating the inside of the wheels and the faces myself.

Ryan

What alyn means is have they painted the weights then fitted after tyre fitted . Not left them on when painting then fitted the tyres.

Oh sorry!

Yes painted weights then fitted after so once they balance etc..

Not the original weights, as they came off during prep...

Then they sprayed up a selection of wheel weights and give me encase I need to have the wheels balanced in the future...

I have 2 sets that need doing really, plucking up the courage to splash the money they have done a lovely job with the Turini's reminds me just how good they do look on our cars when on.

Are you going to replace the "flow forming" stickers etc

You need some gold tape to go over the weights for trackdays too :P (just kidding)

Pass - but when I asked I was told they sprayed up a selection of weights (hence I have the envelope of more) and then they balanced the wheels...

No idea
