Toyo proxes T1R's all round on mine. Very pleased with the grip both wet and dry conditions

Everyone seems to recommend something different

Depends on what you want to use them for, and how much you want to spend. Every day car (out in rain and snow with winter coming?) or a weekend car? Planning on doing any track days on them?

How long is a piece of string comes to mind.

It all comes down to personal preference, driving style and how deep your pockets are.


From experience Toyo T1Rs are very good slightly better in the dry than the wet and are very good for the odd track day. (If you can still get them)

Vredestiens Setansas come highly recommended by others and I believe are very good in the wet.

Goodyear F1s are also very good, so are Pirelli P Zeros/Rossos but slightly more expensive.

When I buy my next set, because Ive heard good things about them I will probably give Hankook V12s a try.

Unfortunately buying tyres depends on many different things.

Its like a mine field I hope this helps.

My only concrete recommendation is don't get Kumhos. I had a set for about 10 months and the road noise was terrible, grip was good in the dry but totally unpredictable near the limits, no hint they were about to give then nothing! Wet grip was OK but damp grip was like driving on ice.

The only other tyre I've used are the Proxies which have served me well I too am considering the Hankooks next however Evo didn't rate the set they tested.

Very happy with my set, but if i'm being completely honest - i'm not sure they're worth the extra £30 a corner over Falken FK452s. The Vredesteins are better, but i think the Falkens are probably better value.

I have Falken 452's and they go round and round very well.
Great value IMHO compared to even Toyo's which I have used previously for about 8 years.

I rate the toyos but might well test the Pirelli's next tie as these come top of the evo tests although they're expensive.
Also considering yoko ad08 as a second set to the toyos

Another vote for Falken 452's Lee. I had them on mine at the at the end and they were very good. Reasonable to.

With regard to the above:

I have just been talking to a local supplier of these tyres,

his opinion was:
they are quite a good tyre but not as good as toyos especially on a cold damp morning, out of interest I asked what he was running and is using Goodyear F1s.

The supplier was in Hailsham and said they cost £114 inc.

Its like everything generally you only get what you pay for.

Not had any problems with them and in the wet I think their better than f1's which I had and hated , would go as far as saying best tyre I've used in the wet . As for the dry their good but not the best . They let you know what's happening and dont slap you when they have had enough . As far as what you pay for that doesn't always follow . If poeple Want to follow branding , let them . I'll keep the money I save for track tyres
More a case of who you know too as I only paid £305 fitted for a set of 4

As Ian said a lot is down to personal preference, - and they seem to feel very different on different cars. I have the Goodyear F1 A2s on my hatch at the moment and they have been one of the best all round tyres I've used for quite a while - and I have quite a few sets! When I had them on my blob though they didn't feel anywhere as near as good.

You wont beat Hankook V12 Evos's
Currently running the Toyo T1 Sports and the V12's are a totally different league in the wet and dry

To give you an idea Brands Indy Toyo 888 gg best time of 57sec the Pirellis got 56.05 sec. That was on a std Evo X RS. That was a Sumo tyre test day.
Not to brag but I beat both of them in my 8 on 888's.
