Newbie with no car
Just thought I would say hello.
I have just joined SES however,I dont have a subaru yet. I hope to be in a postion to buy my first subaru wrx in September after years of dreaming. Can anyone give me any tips on what to look out for and what to avoid? Any help would be appreciated Iam looking at spending £4-£4.5. |

Welcome
£4k puts you firmly into newage cars unless you're looking for a special edition or mint classic. If you're after a wrx, you should be able to get a blobeye for your money (2003-2005 shape). No major issues to be aware of, just look for good service history and any accident damage. A lot of cars have non-standard parts fitted so if you find a car online that you're going to look at, feel free to post the details up and i'm sure we'll be able to offer advice |

Cheers for the advice steve. Good idea about posting the details up I shall do that, was thinking about a 2.0 wrx instead of a 2.5 cheeper road tax and all that.

Think about how far you plan to go if you intend to mod the car, if you are thinking you may want to go for serious mods/power either buy a WRX, keep it pretty much std, then swap it for an sti later down the line, or get an sti to start with.
Yes there are a few high power WRXs on here mine included but speak to any of us and we'd reccomend the sti as a better start point - simple example is a 6 speed box from an STI will be around £1.5 to £2k, Brembos or similar/better brakes £500 to £1000 and you can see why any saving by buying a WRX quickly disappears. £4.5k could probably get you a Bug STI possibly even a prodrive edition.
