Default Rear Shocks WRX Sti

wrx sti 2003 Pro Drive

My rear shock passenger side needs replacing, its a bit knocky on slow movement and doesnt return when pushed down.

It doesnt happen all the time and usually starts when the car has been driven for a while.

I`d like to know the cheapest option and what to replace them with, is it a big job... that = big expense

Hi there you can go route aftermarket BC,Apex etc.,yes from £500-£700.
Or you can go via route of KYB,which are OEM replacement, price for 4 is around £399 or you can buy just pair, these selling Camskill

Strip them down, clean out, fit a grease nipple and re grease. Alot cheaper then £700. I did post a YouTube vid on here a few month back that explains the problem and how to solve it.

Simplest and cheapest thing to do is just get a couple of new KYB Ultra SR shocks from Camskill. You can use your existing springs and top mounts, easy swap for a garage.

After emails back and forth to Camskill they have advised these, are these a good option and the ones you steve recommended

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m10b0s2696p30223

I have found a garage in Worthing that deals with scoobs and been quoted £90 labour a side to fit

Thanks for all your advice

Julie

£90 labour a side sounds a bit steep, but maybe their labour rates are not much less then dealer per hour.

I would expect to be able to change 'both' sides in about 1 - 1.5 hours

Those part numbers tally up with what the catalogue says is needed for a 03/04 blob STI so they look correct

But i agree with Scott, £90 a shock is steep on the labour side. Brent @ SMD did mine and i paid £105 for all 4 (and that included changing a wheel bearing too!). Top fella

Will look into options again though as l need this done as cheap as poss, l`ve just had to pay out £500 on my VW camper...everything happens at once
