Default Castrol Edge versus Castrol RS

Anyone know the difference? Is it just re-marketing?

Bob Rawle recommended in the past that I use RS 10/60 - the 60 because of occasional track work, where he said 40 has an increased risk of breakdown.

I notice Bob seems to recommend Shell Helix 10/40 now, according to the Worzel. Interesting.

Any views please?

It is strange as there is a big difference between the two.

When did Bob recommend 10W60 to you? He told me about the Helix the last time I was there (about a year ago)

When I had my last remap in July 05. Then went to Gatwick with instructions, and the 10/60 RS was what Dave was using anyway on tuned flat fours. Used it ever since. There are still threads on Scoobynet talking about keeping to 60 for track work.

We need some expert comment here!

I didn't think they made the RS anymore (coz thats what used), so now I used the Edge

I'm a great believer of the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

The Helix Ultra has worked really well for me, but then I don't track it (which I think Bob knew also) and have no real intention of doing so (at the moment anyway )

Have you checked out any appropraite websites with regards the name change?

Right then Keith. I have had a trawl about and been on a few sites including http://www.castrol.co.uk which gives some good info.

Yes it is a direct replacement / upgrade to RS 10W60.

Below is something I lifted from GT-R.com which explains a bit more about it. But there is plenty of other info out there if you want it. One good thing is, I know what to use in the M3 now
