Default speedo and check engine light

just a 4 drive and now speedo doesn't work .also engine check light has come on and car judders... help me guys my babys poorly... cheers ....how do I fix this

could be either speed sensor on gearbox, speed convertor on back of dash.
Or if it is a WRX and has a speed delimiter wired in to the ECU these are prone to fail.

if so bypass it to see if fixes. the box will have power,ground and 2 wires.
these 2 wire join to one wire on the ecu and one wire in the loom (it's the same wire just cut), remove speed delimiter wires and rejoin existing ecu wire together.
Car will run fine bypassed but you won't be able to go above 112mph

It's a 97 2.0 ltr turbo UK if tht helps .. I never drive ova 90 anyway !!

Is it repairable or do I need a new part . I'm pretty green wen it comes to things like this lol. Thanx for ur help .. much appreciative

the car will go into limp and illuminate the CEL light because fo the speedo not working...........

UK cars normally have an electronic sender so probably this thats failed..

I had that on my WRX, was the speedo cable broken.

Had a similar thing on my 94 sti. CEL came on speedo didnt work, was the bit on the cable that connected to the gearbox. Sounds like yours is some electrical part though as its newer and UK
