Anyone know anything about underfloor heating!?
Heating doesn't seem to have been working in the flat im in of late. Checked all the electric controls and stuff and theyre working, can hear the pump kick in though.
Pressure was down to under 1 (not sure if its bar or psi!) and there was a red arrow at 2 which was manually set. Guess that's what pressure it should be at (hoping) and opened up the heating loop filler thing till pressure was at 1.8-1.9. Sound sensible or have I potentially broken something!? Dave

Ok been fiddling and reading user guides.... Greig I have no idea what you mean lol. Will go have a look now.
I dont have the foggiest when it comes to heating systems, just been using what very little brain power I have! There is domestic hot water. Tried resetting the boiler, and even with all the thermostats on full and the controls on continuous after the reset it goes to status 1 for a second or 2 and the burner light shows. It then goes straight to boiler status 0 (which means no demand for heat). Pressure is reading 1.8 bar. I'm guessing it means the boiler is not being told to turn on for the heating for some reason so possibly something electrical? Could it be an airlock?

Also just found the central heating drain off, water comes out warm but not hot if this helps!?
Does underfloor heating not run very hot and i just havent given it enough time since i topped it up to warm the place up? As you can tell I'm pretty clueless lol

Valve is a silver box with a pipe in the top and out the bottom,
Has a lever on top when no demand for heat the lever will not move freely When the stat calls for heat the lever will become loose then telling the Boiler to fire. Sounds like either a broken valve or the pcb in the boiler has packed up, Is it a very old system?

Had a look for it, can't see it too clearly and dont want to fiddle around with too much stuff as It's not my flat. Renting a room off a friend.
I've admitted defeat and contacted her dad who's gonna sort someone out to come in and look at it. Fortunately its a 3rd floor flat so doesnt get too cold as the people below heat it up!!! System can't be very old as think the building was only finished about 3 years ago. Thanks a lot for your help tho mate. Sounds like it probably is what you're suggesting with the stat calling for heat and the boiler not responding.

It was the part you were describing! I was looking at the hot water one, doh!
Slightly dubious that the plumber wants to come back and drain the system to change the valve?? Could he not just change it without draining the system as its just the teeth on it that are worn down. Dave

If it's a honeywell one then you can change just the head unless the valve is jammed,
