Angry Help

Hello just got my first scooby and am changing cam belt at moment, putting new belt on was massive pain when trying to line all marks up (on my own) but finally got it done but when i pulled allen key out of hydraulic tensioner it didnt move it just sat there and laughed at me.
So put allen key back in took belt and tensioner off then pulled pin out it was fine , compressed tensioner again slowly with g clamp all fine repeated this about 5 times all good.
At last gonna work now can finish get my baby boosting up the road again but oh no same thing tried about ten times works every time off car never on car.
Is it weak or i am i stupid or unlucky or what .
So if anyone has come across or heard of this please let my know many thanks.

It's common to have to change the tensioner when doing the cam belt - not sure if yours may be past it's best, I thought they leaked when faulty.
