Default tuning advice

hi guys! i have very limited knowlege of tuning scoobies!! i for those that dont know, i have a uk car, with induction kit, blitz system with de cat pipe, and up rated fuel pump, what should be my next step in getting more horsepower? i dont have all the money in the world, and dont want a car that blows up all the time, but i would like to get to around 280 -300 bhp, what should be my next step, oh and can some1 explain the difference between remapping, and chipping? (if its not a stupid question)

any help would be awesome,
cheers ! damien

The fact you have an uprated fuel pump helps your options a lot.

A re-map is the way home, to give you the extra BHP / Torque you are after. If you look in the "Thomson Local" section you will see all of the detail for Polar Performance (Scott T / Siver Surfer). He is the man to talk to for sure.

What ever you do though, don't get caught up in a battle for BHP only! The best advice I could give is try to keep them somewhere near equal. Mine is currently 348bhp & 345mn Torque. This gives me PLENTY of beans! All of this is achieved without induction and the like plus the fact I am using stock Subaru Parts. Including a sportcat.

I am not 100% sure on figures and I'm sure someone will correct me if / when I'm wrong.

I had an un-modded STi 5 Import a few years back, that was 285bhp when I got it. Before I bought that I test drove a UK spec bugeye WRX which if remember correctly was around 250bhp?

I have no idea what the UK STi 5 was?
