Default Out of the Ashes !!!

I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and thoughts regarding the terrible demise of my Subaru. I love these cars and I will be in another one soon ----- could be very soon !! I have just been to see an absolutely imaculate P1. Any feed back about these cars would be appreciated. I have had my eye on it for a while now but couldn't bring myself to part with my one.Thanks. Martyn.

We are all devoted when it comes to our scoobys, and for what happened to yours would seriously test our resolve and emotions. We have all been in some sort of incident involving our cars at one point in our lives, but we learn, move on and pick up the pieces.

You can never replace a car that you lost, all you can do is start again and make it better, we are one big family, and we are after all, pationate about our cars and each other when it comes to subarus.
Best thing about all this, you and Scott got out in one piece, and you will have another scoob, its in the blood.......

MMM P1 What put me off of one is they blow up at a alarming rate.Culverwells had one and when i was talking with one of there mechanic's he even said they blow up.When they did sell it the guy had it 1 day and guess what yep £3k plus rebuild. So glad i did not get one now.But it's your choice

Firstly and most importantly, glad to see you being so positive after such a crap bit of luck. Hats off to you.

Of all the special editions, the P1 is a pretty fragile car. But on the other hand one you can do an awful lot to. Just look at the work Clive (AKA Skulfudge) has done with his. Although he has spent many times more than most spend on buying a car to get it that way.

IMHO, if I was looking for a "special" edition, I would look either at an RA or maybe an RB5. But that's peronal choice.

Good luck Martyn.

That was a 22b & it kept blowing simply because they built it. Vince has built a local 22b it now has over 200k on it.

Far point Nige but this came from a dealers and lots of reading on the net.It looks from things i have looked at the map in the P1 is a sti5 and not set for brit fuel by prodrive so they knock and it kills them. The mechanic i talked to also said it was down the fuel.Thats why i got a good uk car and worked on it now i have P1 power but nice and safe.

The one I am looking at is a 2001 with low mileage and full dealer service history, obviously been very well looked after ( which is reflecting in the price ! ) Can they be re-mapped etc to sort out the fueling problems ? It is a very nice car.

Martyn,
Good to see you bounce back nice and quickly.

Re P1 : They blow up because they run an STi map in the ECU and people don't put the right fuel in.

A remap and a Roger Clarke Oil Pump and they should be just like any other scoob.
With a decat and filter 300+BHP is an easy target.

ECUTEK dealers can remap the stock ECU or I can map an Apexi PFC i.e as per my own car.
I run a P1 Turbo in mine and achieved 335BHP last time on the rollers and it's only a UK engine.

I agree with Worzel. Get an RA

I would rather have a type R than a P1

good on ya, i'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason and for whatever reason the scoob went up it's just a good job you both managed to get out in time, that's what matters at the end of the day - good luck and enjoy scooby shopping!

if you get one thats well looked after and got the paper work to back it up, chances are your going to be saving yourself any problems that could arise, imo if it feels right then get it espically if you gonna be spending money on it after buying it, if theres the slightest doubt in your head just walk away, theres plenty of scoobies out their and the right one will come along when the times right

If you like it buy it,

The P1 will always be a limited edition, so will always retain a good resale / future classic status.

Can have problems with any Subaru, so doesn't really matter what you buy! personally would love a P1 and as a replacement after what happened, I am sure you would be very happy with one.

Go for it

HI
Had 5 scoobs now 3 classics including a p1 and a blob wrx and blob sti, and must admit loved the p1 the most out of all the cars i have had the look and the way it drove, when i sold it had 99k on the clock and had never had a rebuild and drove a1, check out www.p1woc.co.uk for any info, i would love another one(when i get rid of the un-grand scenic)or maybe try a type r next, sorry to see your pics of your car glad you are ok though (physically).
cheers
Dave

Hi, once again I would like to thank everyone for their comments, Subaru's are great cars and so are the people who drive them. I have been a member of several car clubs in the past but I have never experienced such a great bunch of car enthusiasts.
I don't what to push my luck, but is there anyone who would be willing to give this P1 the once over with me, the garage have said we can put it up on the ramps and do what ever we like to check it out. Many thanks Martyn.

Mate i am sure someone with lot's of knowledge can if not i will come with you If it has all the right history and you feel it's a good one go for it gut feelings work the best.I was not knocking them earlier i realy like the P1 but if i had got the one i looked at it did blow up.There was other reason's why i did not get one only 2 doors and a family being one. When i looked at my Impreza it had 148k on it but it felt right with all the history so went for it and never looked back.
