Brake Bleeding
Afternoon all,
Going to be doing a fluid change soon on the STi, it's a 2016 model. I've always used a very basic hand-operated vacuum bleeder (pump type) connected to the caliper on my other cars, but to be honest it's getting a bit tired now and was thinking of upgrading it anyway. I'm looking at the Sealey VS820 pressure bleeder that is basically a mechanical pump, with a cap that screws onto the master cylinder... https://www.sealey.co.uk/product/563...leeding-system ...the cap that comes with the kit will fit European cars, but there is an accessory kit that includes the master cylinder caps for Japanese cars, including Subaru... https://www.sealey.co.uk/product/563...leeder-cap-set Has anyone ever used this before to successfully flush their fluid and bleed their brakes? Not used it myself but pretty sure that's the one Edd China was using on one of his Workshop Diaries episodes on YouTube the other day.
I've found most of the Sealey stuff to be pretty good. The adapter kit looks expensive if you only need one of them, the fact it includes some threaded hooks and chains makes me think there may be one that is a best fit if none of the others fit type adapter. |

I know on my bugeye the garage have told me the brakes have to be done the old school way. No idea how or why but I remember them telling me that.

The adaptor that has the the hooks and chains is pretty rubbish, according to the reviews. to much flex in the lid when it's clamped down on the top of the reservoir apparently. The shape of the reservoir on the Subaru also makes me think it wouldn't clamp on tight anyway. The adaptor supplied in the kit does include a "Subaru adaptor" - this is also available separately but looking at it and the dimensions I'm still not convinced that it will fit! |
