2003 Blobeye Airbag Module issues
So airbag light has been on since I have had the car (8 Months), thinking it was just the normal wiggle the connectors to fix it, I had left it to the day before the MOT to look at it, I have unplugged and replugged both seat connectors for airbags.
So I found the airbag diagnostic connector under the dash next to the ecu flashing plugs, untaped the two short to ground connectors and preceded to plug ground connector into pin1, read the codes..... 42,21 and 11. From an America site, so not sure which side will be which: 11 AIRBAG HARNESS DRIVER CIRCUIT IS OPEN, SHORT, OR SHORT TO GROUND 21 AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE IS FAULTY 42 SIDE AIRBAG HARNESS L SIDE IS FAULTY I then with the ignition still plugged in, connected the other ground connector into pin2. This should then reset the codes and cause the airbag light to blink evenly. Only mine just keeps reading the codes out. I have swapped the grounds the other way round to make sure the grounds are good. If I connect both pins to reset the code and turn the ignition off and back on again, the airbag light blinks very rapidly as if it is flickering. Can anyone throw some light on this? I am at a bit of a loose end now. Reading on some USA sites it suggest that if you replace the module you need to recode it to your vin. Over here I can't see anyone offering this service and I have a strong suspicion that as long as the unit hasn't been triggered it will swap from another vehicle? does anyone know. I am trying to look through my pile of bugeye parts to see if I can find the module from that to see if looks the same and maybe try swapping out.
