ECU Data Logging, ECU Reset, ECU Reflash Applications
ECU Explorer : Primarily used for logging MY99/00, Error Code Reading and ECU Reset (might work on a OBD MY98) but does also work on MY01> : http://code.google.com/p/ecuexplorer/downloads/list
ECUFlash : Primarily used for Downloading & Reflashing MY01> ECU, can also be used for map editting : http://www.openecu.org/index.php?title=EcuFlash RomRaider : Logging, Error Code Reading, Map Editing and provides a Live Map Overlay : http://www.romraider.com/. You must also download the ECU and logger defintions files (as per the instructions). This provides a better user interface for logging/editing then ECUFlash, but ECUFlash should still be used to download/Reflash. ECUEdit : Logging, Editting and Flashing : http://www.epifansoft.com/ecuEdit-versions-prices.html. Not Free but the best of the bunch. Tactrix Cable : For Downloading/Flashing you will need a Tactrix cable : http://www.tactrix.com/index.php?pag...mart&Itemid=53 or if you can find one the earlier Tactrix 1.x cable type interface (with jumper.reflash adaptor plugs). For just logging, ECU Reset, Error Codes an Ebay OBDII Cable will probably suffice, but I have always had a Tactrix. Or use Bluetooth (something like an ELM327 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-ELM32...item3cd3cdff76) to your phone and something like Android Torque Pro : http://torque-bhp.com/ , http://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Main_Page |

I have RomRaider on my PC here, need to put it on a laptop! I found it great for looking at and reading rom data downloaded from forums etc, particularly learning/reading all the carbury poop.
Tatrix cables are not cheap! but would love to get one at some point to further my learning curve, (although I will probably break something!) My car is mapped using ECUEdit. Richard swears by it also. I have an OBD2 Bluetooth dongle, Gopoint BT1 Not cheap but you can use that with Dash command on your iphone to reset/read and data log in the same way you would with torque or Dash command on Android and it works with Harrys laptimer

Romraider is a great freebie and very well developed and supported by the opensource community.
I particularly like the map overlay feature which not only provides map ghosting but can display actual and target values in the grid cells. This is particularly useful when fine tuning BCS duty to match target boost. I used romraider for years but switched to ecuedit which allows access to locked ECU as my old Hawkeye had a PPP lock. In ecuedit the user defined log screen is good. But it doesnt lay actual and target side by side so you do keep having to flick between screens to compare your target values against actuals. You can flash from ecuedit whereas romraider cant flash direct you have to close the app and flash with ecuflash. So it's a bit 6-2-1 half dozen the other. |

I was looking at getting an OBD2 ELM327.
Will it work with a late classic MY01? I've read that classics don't work with these? Cheers |

ELM327 should work with anything newer than MY98

I can with ECUexplorer or some software see the value of the I.A.M. in a Subaru impreza classic GC8?
