I've run numerous sets of rainsport 3's on cars all year - my previous daily (Mondeo) and the wifes current car and they're great value and performance for typical British weather.
I personally wouldn't run them on the scoob as they struggle for dry grip when pushing on - but its not what they're meant for. Perfect for Scotty's summer weather though |

I had some winter tyres on the front of my old Passat, think they were Vredesteins or something like that, obviously a lot softer compound so they still work in colder temperatures with a deeper, chunkier tread pattern, wouldn't want those them all year round on something like a Subaru, I think they'd struggle during hot weather, also found they were much noisier. I think winter tyres are a great idea, especially if you know you're going to have snow, but you really need 2 sets of wheels so it's nice and easy to swap back to a normal tyre during the summer.

Had some yokohama w-drive winter tyres on the Kia Sorento. Replaced them last night with mud and snow michelin latitude cross.
In sumner the yoko’s were ok but wear was an issue. Winter tyres just aren’t designed for use over about 7 degrees c and as such performance dives off. Latitudes are more a 4x4 tyre so probably not suitable for scoob but michelin do similar latitude models.
