Default Ron

So scoobies like 98 Ron or above. Regular petrol in the UK is 95 Ron. We are currently in New Zealand and our rental car is a brand new Toyota Controls which runs on 91 Ron. So what does Ron mean and is the lower the figure the less "concentrated " it is? Currently sitting by a beautiful beach,26 degs, drinking wine and thinking about the wonders of the world.

I'm sure a scientist would cringe at this, but my understanding is RON is the octane rating. The higher it is, the easier the fuel burns.

So in some ways, I guess it is a concentration/dilution point.

Default Ron

I think this pretty well explains it:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

Have a good time Terry.

Also ........

Ron is also a measurement of thinkness of a lamp post, if Ron can be seen behind the lampost then is is considered to be a low Ron, if Ron can't be seen then it's considered a higher Ron.

When I saw the tread title I thought is was going to be about pieman aka Ron 😄. I do miss him posting and avoiding the paparazzi.

Simon's description of Ron and a lampost is spot on 👍😎

In the USA the petrol is rated 91 or 89 RON, but I think they measure it differently. It is probably more agricultural for their big V8s etc but I don't think it's as bad as it sounds from the numbers!

In the USA the measurement is different and I believe 93 in the US is equivalent to 98 in the UK. So their 91 and 93 are the same as 95 and 98 (or thereabouts).

The more Ron the better Da Doo....Ron Ron
