Handbrake turn

I may be entering an on road time trail , which for speed would necessitate a handbrake turn,something I've never done in my 2016 STi, can it be done. Thanks.

Hi terry - have u got an electronic or physical handbrake?

Can u not shift the dccd to the rear and give a sharp turn and little bit more welly and swing the a** out?

I’d be wary handbraking - maybe just stomp and turn and floor-it

Surely having the rear wheels locked while the fronts are still rotating wouldn't do the diffs any good, wouldn't have thought it was recommended.

Thanks Red Baron,even I ,with my limited mechanical knowledge, figured it probably wouldn't be a good idea.

It's not a good idea the centre diff will not like it.
Set the dccd to the rear to make it more flockable but find some where to practice as can catch you out,
I've been caught out with it. I actually prefer the stock split ratio and dial the suspension to suit my style. (Point and squirt lol)

You'll be absolutely fine just make sure to clutch in before you engage the handbrake and give a quick blip of the throttle before you bring it back up to make the manoeuvre as smooth as possible / minimise wear on the drivetrain.

As others have mentioned you can also adjust the DCCD to rear wheel bias which will make it far more predictable during the slide. Either way, a quick tap of the brake will bring the car back into line straight away
